I'm looking for a great pair of Textile overpants that have a removeble liner for hot days. Perferable with adjustable knee pads so I can actually walk in them with out the knee pads hangin down by my shins. Any input would be appreciated--Thanks

Hey buddy, I've got the tourmaster overpants. They are waterproof and great for cold northeastern days but they don't have a removable liner and do tend to get hot as hell on summer rides. So I would look elsewhere but I thought I'd chime in in case you were considering the tourmaster ones. I do love the rest of my tourmaster stuff though.

I had a pair of Joe Rocket Ballistic 7.0 Pants, they had a removable liner and i think the armor was removable too. They were comfy to walk in with the armor and had an 8" rear zipper attachment to zip to your jacket.

I have both a pair of Heine Gerike textile trousers and some Lindstrand kevlar jeans.

Both very comfortable but the jeans have no knee pads as I have knee pads which i strap to my knees.

Nothing is water proof unless it is rubber. They are water resistant, to many degrees. I have a Tourmaster jacket advertised to be water proof, that I get wet in when I ride in the down pour for an hour. If you ride in a drizzle from time to time, then many of them, Tourmaster included, will likely keep you relatively dry. I had the Joe Rocket and as far as the water resistancy, I can't say I was inpressed with them either.

I found them on adventuremotorcyclegear.com...Kinda pricey. If the saying is true, "You get what you pay for" these better last a long time and keep you dry. Some of these suits/pants cost more than a set of racing leathers.

Ya thanks for the info, but I really dont plan on rideing my babe in the rain ( thats what my trucks fer) just want some overpants that I can wear over my work dickie pants that can have a liner removed. In the summer rideing to work on three different freeways out hear gets pretty darned hot. My tourmaster air intake is one great jacket, in the heat its awesome and rode in high 30's this winter with no complaints other then that two inches of neck that was exposed--------

Ducc - You mentioned Textile pants, but are you thinking more of a Mesh Tex where you get decent ventilation when its hot?

I've been a fan of First Gear for a while. I had their textile pants, but to be honest, they were "too warm", unless I was planning on spending riding every day in less than 40 degrees. Which I don't.

I found the First Gear HT Air overpants give me what I need. With the liner in, I'm fine for a reasonable ride (say less than 50 miles) in temps under 40 degrees. Once the temps warm up, out comes the liner, and these are my summer pants even if its 100*. They breath pretty well. Sure, I still get hot, especially in traffic in 90 degrees, but as the saying goes, I'd rather sweat than bleed.

They have full zippers on the leg which makes it easy to get into and out of. Waist is adjustable. Sizing was true, however, I would suggest that you consider getting your pants 2" longer than what you normally wear (whatever brand). This way, when you are seated, the pants will stay down just a little bit further on the boot, rather than riding up you leg.

The one problem that I do have is when I put the liner in, I cannot tuck the pants into my boots. Its fine without the liner, but no go with liner in. I guess it might depend on the size of you calves as well as the brand of boot.

    Good luck.

Duccman, another option is getting some Kevlar pants and something like the Bohn Adventure pants to wear underneath. They have a set that is configured with mesh instead of the full panel lycra, which should keep you cool. I have a pair of the regular Bohn that I use and have not had any heating issues. One cool thing about this method is that you can wear different pants on top of the armor, get a rip in the pants, buy a new pair. I've seen quite a few makes of the Kevlar pants, from jeans to khakis to cargo pants. Most of them selling for under $100.00. The Bohn Armor is a little more than $100.00 though. So far all the times I have worn them to job sites, no one even noticed I had the armor on.

This is not the ideal in protection but is a decent compromise IMO.

I sure would love to go to a shop that has them on the rack so I can see exactley how they fit. One more question, can you adjust the knee pads for walkin around ? Thanks guys for all the advice ;)-

First Gear TPG Escape. Expensive but very comfortable, water RESISTANT, removable liner, good zippers (not plastic crap) and very well made. Rocket makes gear will lots of function but their quality is lacking for longevity. I had the Ballistic Pants and the thread seams stated coming apart after one riding season.

Ducc - Since I only buy First Gear, I can only speak for them. But basically, all brands of overpants are supposed to have already taken into consideration that they are being worn "over pants". So the extra room is already there. First Gear has always been right on with their sizing, and I've only bought them on-line.

My jeans or khakis are usually 40W, 32L. (Yea, I'm a fat bastard). But as I mentioned earlier, I buy my overpants the next size longer, so I'd order a
40W 34L. The 32's fit me no problem, but its just a personal preference to have the overpants a little longer so they stay all the way down my boots (both of which are Cortech).

Everyone has their own place to buy - I like MotorcycleGear.com (the new name of New Enough) :: Motorcycle Jackets, Helmets, Gloves, Boots, Luggage, Parts and More! Easy to deal with. Easy to return. Quick shipping. But I'm sure there's plenty of other places as well. (They also give some very in-depth reviews and multiple pictures). Here's a link.

    FirstGear HT Air Overpants - 2011 :: MotorcycleGear.com

As for adjusting the knee pads - yes.
