Looks like an interesting winter project. If I could put in a request, please post a bit more information on the specs when you have a chance.

When spring comes around and it's fitted, keep a good eye on those welded up dogbones. Not sure I'd be too happy riding around on those tbh. Welding messes with the mechanical properties of the steel and that appears to be a forging and forgings are used only when the application demands it.

Very interesting! I tried a setup similar to that about 10 years ago. It didn't work out too well, but I must admit I never gave it much of a chance because I found something a lot better (the shock conversions I've been doing since).

Have you determined the new leverage ratio yet? If not, shoot me some details on the dimensions of your parts and I'll be happy to plug them into my VF500 leverage spreadsheet for you.

If everything else works out I'll probably make a new dogbone. I used the new top mount to make up shock length. The bottom shock mount has stock hole centers made to it the f2 shock with timken needle bearings. The hole in the dog bone has been moved for a an extra 1/2 inch of rear ride height. It should work better than adding extensions to the shock itself plus be way stronger. If this works half as good as it should there will be 1 made for my 1000r in the very near future.

Interesting! If I could ask, do you have a drawing for this? Curious to see how the geometry settles in.

For reference, here is what I came up with on my '84 VF500F running a DMr F4i shock conversion paired with CBR600F rims:
