Starting problem ..gotta be electrical??? help!

Hello everyone. First time post. I have a 85 VFR700 interceptor with 5,883 miles
I recently did a custom rebuild of the majority of the bike. I completly disassembled the bike and painted everything. I relocated the fuel pump and the coils. However I tried to start the bike after reassembly and the starter solenoid makes a grinding sound. When I bridge the terminals with a screwdriver it turns over fine but has no spark and the fuel pump does not engage. Also when I turn the killswith to the off position the start button still tries to start the motor. Another thing is when I click the on/ off button back and forth every once in a while the fuel pump will click. I have a brand new battery and it is fully charged. I replaced the solenoid and kill switch controls today to see if that made any difference but it didnt. I also have replaced the starter clutch. Im confused because it ran fine before I disassembled the bike. All fuses are good. Any ideas?
    Thanks
