I registered on this site a few days ago knowing that sometime relatively soon i would like to get a vfr to upgrade from my Yamaha Maxim X I just resurrected. Well today I saw this listing on CL for a "95 VFR750.
    It reads as follows:
Selling my 95 Honda VFR 750
There is one known issue. The bike will not start because the starter slips.. The starter engages and the starter rotates but, all you hear is a slipping gear sound. Other then this one know issue, the bike runs great. I have rode the bike with confidence and slowly but, surely the starter began to slip. I just don't have the time or need to look into this issue. The starter solenoid is new, the battery is new, tires are in good condition, controls are in working order, 29K miles, red,. I love the bike.. just don't have the time for it so to speak.

What do you guys think? is it worth looking into. I'm pretty adept at wrenching., but don't have any experience with this particular bike. What do I look for if i go look at it? Any advice is appreciated. He's asking $1250.

assuming he can and will push start it? And the thing does run well - I'd say it's a steal.

If he's described thing accurately, sounds like the starter clutch mechanism. $140 part on ronayers.com and lives under the right side engine cover next to the main clutch. Two beer job tops.

I agree with tink. unless that thing just looks like a POS, he is giving it away.

Shiiit if its $140 and an easy fix - and like reg71 said, it dont look like a POS - I would buy it! Make sure it can be registered and pass safety too!
