    Hello there...

Lost my last key to my beloved VFR and yes, had to buy a Hiss Lockset and ECU CDI. Lesson learn't! Everything looks straight forward to replace, but the only challenge I can see me having is that it looks like I need a special allen key or tool to remove the two bolts that hold the ignition assembly in place.

Does anyone know what this tool is called or how to DIY remove it?

    Thanks

that special tool is restricted to locksmiths only. you will also note that it is a oneway face on the bolts and the bolt threads are designed to self tap and lock into the ounting fixture, get some loctite thread lock if you plan to mcgeiver it, I removed my tumbler when I broke a key in the ignition lock, but I have some training in locks and security devices that is not common or easy to get these days. You can take your registration papers to your dealer, you will also need the key number off the side/bottom of the tumbler assembly. They can order you a pre-cut key for your bike and order you a coulpe blanks (blanks cost me $20/ea.) then you can get the spare keys cut just about anywhere that can cut double sided keys.

Remember, this was never meant to come apart and you can easily break something or worse lock your ecu.
