whats up guys first post on forum. i recently sold my kawasaki en500 and now looking to buy a vfr 800. the dealership near my house is selling one, its a 2001 model with 28000 miles on it, they're asking 3650 but since i am paying cash they're willing to sell it for 3000. the bike has a staintune exhaust and hard case bags. the bike is in mint condition i couldn't find one thing wrong with it exterior wise and it sounded great. i just had a couple of questions as to what to look for, what to ask the dealership maintenance wise and things that usually go wrong with the bike that i should know about to see if they have dealt with those issues. also is that a good deal on the bike? any help would be appreciated and thanks . this is bike btw Razee Motorcycle Center - (401) 295-8837

Scuba mentioned the only real concern. You will want to check the valves after 30k, so maybe ask the dealer to throw that into the purchase price. Maybe you can knock some bucks off the service.

Looks like it has bar risers too. $3000 is a great price.

Check the bags for severed heads, weapons or drugas. RI is a mob-run state, innit ? The dealer have an Italiano name ?? Check the numbers.

Unless that bike needs co$tly maintenance, it seems like a good deal, and nobody would not enjoy riding it.

Looks great, mate. I usually find first impressions count, if a bike looks good and has a good service history, then it ain't gonna be far off the mark.

Last year of the best gen! Great price and 28K is just broke-in. I'd put some good quality tires on it, and Goooo.

I'm sure that was a good deal.

AS others have said, check the following:

R/R (aka Regulator Rectifier. Do a search here and you will "learn" if you're not familiar).
What kind of tires? Hows the life left in them?
    Check your chain and sprockets.

    Congrats. You're gonna love it.

Sweet bike! I just bought the 1998 version with 3700 miles. How do you like the handle bar risers? I was thinking of adding them to mine.
