Have done the flapper and snorkle but forgot to do the Pair. Just finished--So does it really make a huge difference on milage and the snatchy (hehe snatch) throttle? I'll take it out Wednesday and see for my self . Thanks
no... i have done pair removal, de-flappered, de-snorkeled, and de-evapped my bike. it does really make it easier to work on though thats for sure!! synching the starter valves seemed to help the most but the PCV with autotune i am about to install i think will make the biggest difference i never had a major complaint with snatchiness though.
I just did all three mods today. Took it out and noticed a big difference, maybe it was just me though. I will say I have a 2 brothers with no baffles and the bike backfires a ton on decel now. So it's doing something. I also have a k&n fwiw.
The PAIR valve is supposed to quell the backfiring and it's removal is crucial to getting a proper Dyno tune. There's a long version explanation here somewhere of exactly what it does, but unless you're planning on getting a 'PC' and Dyno tuned/Auto-tune, it can stay on the bike without robbing you of any HP. At least that is what I have found from reading the different post and talking with Dyno-Jet. Cheers
I probably should have added that taking off all of the PAIR equipment would definitely reduce the weight of your ride, I think ALL of the gear is somewhere between 6-7 lbs., that and opening up the airflow would also increase HP a little, not enough to notice unless you're a Dynometer, but maybe you might. I have the same setup as you pretty much (K&N, Two-Bros, Airbox mods), with the exception that I still have the PAIR valve gear installed and I do not notice any backfiring at all. That being said I did install a PCV to help smooth out the low end "snatchy" throttle but have yet to de-PAIR and get an official Dyno-tune. That's coming soon, funding permitting.
HelLo Mr. ducc! Not trying to over simplify but if your throttle is a little snatchy (giggle) try checking your throttle cable free play. My 07 was snatchy (giggle) and I though it was these things but turned out the throttle cable just needed some tightening. Hmmm imagine that. A little tightening fixes the snatch!!!
Thanks TBAbb, I personally never had a problem with snatchy, just what I have read on this problem . Took out my bike today and HOLY COW -it made a huge difference, low end , mid to upper power range . All I have done is a patial gut on the stock cans. Oh, and actually noticed last night alittle play in the fun grip and took out the slack.
de snorkel didnt make a difference save you could hear the engine rather than the sewing machien that they try to pass it off as. syncing the starter valves and adjusting the bypass air (yes efi bike still need bypass air) did wonders for my bike, adjusting the throttle free play made the bike feel more responsive as mine was quite slack. The biggest change cam last year when I gutted my stock cans, leaving only the little exhaust runners from the rear baffle in place (for looks and has not made a diffence when compaired to open pipe) not only does it feel better, respond better, kill tires faster (just too light on the rear) but it sounds way better! I plan to remove the PAIR system, 6lbs and all it does is add air to the exhaust (what a way to screw with the O2 sensors!) and a partial evap removal. possibly a cat-delete. The PC mod is not on my list as i want to get a HAL Tech unit and fix the problem completely (make use of the O2 sensors when they are supposed to be used, everything past idle to the redline!)

Yep just removed the PAIR system today and it made a huge difference! I have an aftermarket can that always popped like crazy. I did just try unplugging the PAIR from the wiring harness , but this just made it backfire heavily on decel. So I assume that it was in the open position from start up which produced all th fireworks. I have now fully removed it and blocked off the read valves. This made the bike smoother through the whole rev range and no more backfiring. I have Al's disabled the flapper valve and removed the snorkel,.I used to get a ticking sound from the air box , which was from the flapper valve, so best bit is that annoying noise is no longer there. As far as performance gains, I'd say minimal if any, but defo sounds awesome! In short if ur going to disable the PAIR do a proper job and take it out completely, don't just unplug it from the wiring , as this will only introduce new issues. Hope that helps anyone thinking of doing it.
