street racing cars hasnt killed as many, nor has it cause so much property damage, both as a direct result and as secondary cause. eg motorcycle street racers tend to just bolt through traffic, most street races either block traffic(which is a petty crime here in canada) or go to secluded areas.

I will grant that a car will do much more damage to property when it does out of control, but a motorcycle darting through redlights at high speed does tend to make other road users attempt to try to avoid them, thus causing more damage in the process. street racing crashes in a motorcaycle usually, but not always end in a fatality or two per incident.

I dont agree that such a severe punishment should be issued, but if that peticular area is having such a hard time controlling the issue then this may be just the scare tactic to keep racing where is belongs, on the track. that said, the goverment in the area should build a track area to allow thsi to happen and make the users pay for use to maintain the track. The closest track to me is 4hrs drive away and I know if there was one closer the riders here would gladly pay 100$/day user fee. just think 20-60 users/day on a weekend? thats 4000$ per weekend minimum or 192,000 per year, can you say cash cow? even with taking 45000/yr away its still a chunk of change to play with.

Shouldn't all the major manufacturers and tire companies contribute to a track's upkeep ??

I agree that imposing too severe a peanalty for youthfull indescretion could be one sign of a totalitarian regime. Perhaps a 4 year penalty sent down to work on a farm, then reinstatement but be forced to ride nothing bigger than a 250 on a restricted license.

China needs it's first Moto GP riders, and kids need somewhere to practice. Lot of young riders on litrebikes here who ride crazy are over-priviliged rich kids, maybe the same in China ??

Expensive lawyers or party favoritism often work miracles.
