After years of looking I finally found one that was all original -One owner and in great shape that I did not have to travel half way across the country to get. Thanks from the advice from several people on this forum who helped me in my decision making on this bike as it was not for sale and the owner really did not want to let it go but after talking to me and knowing that I was going to keep it original and treat it like he had felt better about it going to a new home. It currently is at a local bike shop where it was brought due to the plastic fuel tubes leaking. I'm in the process of doing research on finding what other honda models used the same as the 1000r. Ive heard the vf1100 (V65) are the same. I would love to find them in aluminum. I have seen them reproduced for some of the earlier Vf but looking at the pictures the 85-86 VF1000r are different. Anyway this is a great site and I look forward to owning a VF and and being a part of this community. Any advice on the fuel tubes would be great! I included a pic I hope turns out..Please know that this bike has been sitting at this shop for 6 mo. and needs to be cleaned and also the rear section and seat are just sitting there for the pic and not all the way on the bike.
Congratulations on your purchase of a very hard to find and in demand bike that holds value better than any other production VF / VFR / Interceptor. On top of that, you got it with the stock exhaust which is impossible to find. I had similar criteria like yours when I was trying to find mine and it took me 6 full years before the right one came along. I can't wait to see some more pictures once you get it cleaned up. Welcome to the forum.
Congratulation BR. Looks like another one found a good home. Ask Billy C here. He would know what the deal is on the fuel tubes. The man when it comes to VF carbs. billycarrjr@earthlink.net
