Many people are not aware that the chain slack must be checked when the weight of the rider is on the bike.
Ken does seem like a good guy. Straight up .

I'm heading up snowmobiling tomorrow so I will give a wave to Cycle X as I go by. Maybe I'll stop for lunch at the bar next door called the "Watering Hole". Great Wisconsin bar!

Good luck with the bike, I'm sure it will run as good as it looks!

I have heard good things about his rebuilds but the cost seemed crazy expensive for me.
If I was to rebuild and oversize I would shop out the overbore to a decent shop and have some porting done by Mreick.
But you said a machine shop was not close so it sounds like you were kind of stuck.

That was the first bike I ever owned. It was the 305 scrambler.

If I would have done the job I would have had to buy several expensive tools. Spend the gas driving parts back and forth. Then getting all of the right parts and having a way to clean all of the parts or take them to be bead blasted etc.,. The paint would have been a spray can, and the gas could take the paint off.
Cylex-X charged me a fair price and stuck to our agreement. I did not get much custom work done to the
engine. Just a rebuild. Including: taking it apart, ordering or getting all of the parts, measuring all of the parts that need it, cleaning all of the grease and paint and 30 years of crud off of it, Getting the gaskets & O rings and bearings, painting the engine cases, assembly, adjustment of the valves and timing, clutch assembly, start up, and seeing to it that it got on and off of the shipping truck without being damaged.

There is another person that says they will do it for $500.00 but I do not see how that would be possible.

Donald, how bout an old Triumph or BSA fer the next go around . Are you going to sell this bike or just move on to the next build ? and are you going to wait again for winter ? turned my neighbor on to your Honda and he said he sat down and read the whole thread at 2am and LOVED it. Now he's selling his 1000 Vstrom and wants to do a build on an old 750 or 900F-81 or 82. My beers empty, got ta go -thanks for the trip down memory lane. seeee ya

Memory lane is right. That is the way it felt too.
I am starting to get this feeling about my next project, but first I have to
test ride this CB750 before selling it. Then I can start a new project.
