I'm looking into purchasing a 1986 Vf1000r with the same fuel tube issues and just wanted someone to confirm that the aluminum fuel tubes that are on Ebay and the v4market will work. They don't list the Vf1000r as a model they will fit and I talked to the guy who is fabing them and he was not familiar with the 85 and 86 1000r model. The bike that I'm looking at is at a small local shop for repairs and I showed them the pics of the aluminum ones on the web and they say they are different. But then again they have not taken the carbs and fuel lines off yet but rather a visual inspection of the fuel leak. Maybe the tubes are O.K and it's just the o-rings I'm just thinking worse case. Any info would be helpful. Thanks

the O-rings on a set of carbs I bought leaked like a muther when I first put fuel to them.. after a day they O-rings swelled up and sealed. haven't had a problem since.. I would see if the guys selling the bike would be willing to fill it up with gas and see if it leaks after 24hrs...
    just my .02
