I have been noticing there are heaps of cafe racer projects and street fighters for sale in Sydney.

It would seem that the resale market for them is tough.

    Is this trend changing?

I have seen some awesome XV to chopper and SV to cafe racer projects and they look awesome.

Problem is those engines are quite old now and the bikes don't ride like a post 1995 machine.

As to street fighters, in my opinion they are so specific to a single persons taste.

Are these style projects in decline now? Whats your opinion?

What will the next trend be?

I am thinking changing my proposed cafe racer into a stunt style bike. I think I'll get more fun out of it...

not sure. I see them on occasion as a response to an accident more than a desire to have a streetfighter. I live near a college so those guys are where I see them the most. I can't say if they seem any more or less popular, though. next trend I think is going to be electric when they get the battery live and speed just a tad higher.

There are some electric bikes now that look good(not ugly) and have decent range and speed but
They seem dangerous for the rider because no one can hear you coming. Big issue that needs to be addressed.

Car manufacturers had to put in devices to address the no noise problem because many people were KILLED by electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles from not being able to hear them.

Don't believe me??? Go look it up, electric nazis.

Don't be surprised if the new crop of electric vehicles start coming out with a mp3 track of car noises, kinda like the fake shutter sound on the mobile phone cameras. Agree with Reg too, my first thought on seeing a street fighter is that it has been crashed.

IMO... Cafe' bikes (love'em) are built by riders not wholesale, so I'd think seeing them for sale is probably because the owner/builder wants to sell so he can build another, more-so than losing interest with the Cafe' in it's self. No proof JMHO .
