Well, I've missed out on some nice riding weather this past month but, ultimately, I think it was worth it. I put in some elbow grease to clean this baby up and it's looking good (I think). I had some 'before' pictures but, unfortunately, my wife deleted them from the camera thinking they were already downloaded; so, you get to see, mostly, some of the 'after' photos.

To begin with, Supertex, if you remember this exhaust - here's how it turned out (and thank you gain, btw):

Rear tire and brake rotor also from Supertex:

    New chain and sprocket installed:

With the exception of the tail cowl, I've replaced all of the plastic with eBay finds. I just need to replace the rear tail cowl and mud flap and the bike will be all original again (if anyone has an intact B/S tail cowl they're willing to part ways with, let me know). The one I have is cracked in the usual places (it's been epoxied) but it is also a darker shade blue then the rest of the plastic.

    Thanks!

First, I used lacquer thinner and a shop towel to clean off all the tar-like stuff (came right off with a little bit of scrubbing). Then, it was two passes of chrome polish and a whole lot of elbow grease.

Cool beans. My cans are in decent shape, but they do need to be spruced up a bit. Looks like I will add this to the list of things to do once the weather gets a little warmer.

Jewelers Rouge..best stuff ever for polishing. You can pick it up at most local truck stops or order it online for a few bucks..it comes in bricks and has different colors depending on what you are polishing. use it with a power buffer and you will have a mirror finish..very easy to use.
