Is it possible to fit a 1000f or 1000r oil pump in to a vf750f engine? apparently they have a fair bit more oil pressure, and if they can be fitted can it be done with the engine still in the bike?

    Cheers, Paul

Even if it would fit, how many miles on the replacement pump is important since wear accumulates, clearances increase, and pressure decreases somewhat with mileage.

If you're prone to fret, maybe just replace your oil pump with a NEW one designed for your bike.

Actual oil pressure can be measured with a gauge hooked into the lube system and compared with service manual specs.

More pressure than Honda designed for that engine might not necessarily be of any advantage unless it helps the top-end oiling problem. Most pumps have a pop-off or pressure relief valve, and if the oil passages and bearing clearances won't handle additional volume, excess pressure will just be spilled back into the crankcase.

From the service manuals i've seen, on some models it may be possible to change out the oil pump, simply, under the clutch cover. The number of teeth on the drive setup is critical, but don't quote me on it.
