have a 86 vfr700f blue red white 13k mi ,,it was a calif emm model ran like crap jerked all the emm stuff off plugged all the ports on the emm carbs talk about a gutless runner..not enough road here to do a 125..found a set of non emm 49 state carbs used all my internals same size jets needles etc ,only thing that i seen different was the pilot air screw needles the tips on the emm carbs were thicker non emm was more to a smaller end..eyeballed synced them installed then hooked them up to the fuel pump jumped the relay and did a pressure leak check ,,good to go gotem on and what a difference it actually starts on all four cylinders at the same time ..and throttle response is alot better..the f1r slip ons sound a bit more throaty sounding..i might have to raise the needles a washer for the straight thru slip ons..this thing really sounds different..healthy..cant wait to test ride..changing all hydraulic fluids brakes ,clutch and anti freeze silicate free stuff..got a rfront caliper hanging up gotta address that issue..at least i got all the valves adjusted on both vfr700,s..time consuming job..got a mercury 4 carb syn unit comming to do the carbs..my old motion pro the plastic tubes self destructed and cracked ,very old units..now to have a dry spring and get some ohio ride time..seems the sno mobile i bought aint gonna be needed this winter,,oh well maybe next year,,still looking for a left hand nos shasta white mirror assy..got the rhand one from a dealer in iowa for 69 shipped new in wrap..just need the left hand one..thanks gregg in ohio

Just about everyone on any motorcycle forum feels your excitement, most of us have and understand.

Keep in mind that 95% of what the bike can do is illegal in all 50 states and most of the rest of the civilized world !

Sad, but at some point on every one of my rides, i know i'm behaving badly and don't deserve my adult status. Testing traction limits ain't smart.

    %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

Gregg, have you been to the AMA HQ and Museum in Westerville ??

Nice write up! Where you get mecury from? I gota use that crappy man-made crap from Motion-Pro. I was tortured with a CA emissions bike in NJ back in the 80's/Such a turd I will spare you the details, it never ran quite right, and since I used to ride all year round I was forced to cut some carb-board and stick it in front of the radiator. Pulling that crap off never helped, only thing that did was selling it and buying a Nighthawk

Come on Squirrel!!! Lighten up, there are land speed records broke every time I go out on dah public roads  If the government was involved they would sell us either Ninja 250s or Rebel 250s...

It sounds like you've already made your purchase of the mercury style sync tool... I opted to get a Morgan Carbtune (uses steel rods on springs) with much success. I've had several people borrow it already and have been pleasantly surprised and impressed with the accuracy and ease of use. Best of all, no worries about dealing with the mercury! If interested, I believe they are on the order of $100 shipped for the Carbtune pro (4 slide version that we need). < www.carbtune.com >

I am not associated with the company in any way, just a happy customer. I had to use a half broken mercury sync tool until I finally got fed up and bought the Carbtune. No complaints!

Glad to hear of some more 2nd gen bikes out on the road around here too!
