I just recently bought an 06 VFR800 that had been repo'd! I have no history on it other than it's be straight pipped and has 4400 miles on it! I've got some stuff that I need to do on it as there is a possible head gasket leak etc and I've been searching, on here and the web but does anyone have a link for a service manual for this bike? I've spend about the last 45 minutes trying to find one, so I have searched. Found a thread on here back from 2010 but the link is now dead...

    Thanks so much!

4400 miles would not causing the leak............unless they abuse the bike badly. I would suggest to clean her up good. Lube her up, oil change, spark plugs, oil and air filter and see if she doing well before touching the motor. my 2cents

As pliskin said, the link should work, but it's big. Depending on your internet speed/provider you might be better off buying it on a disk from ebay or buying the paper copy. I'm not sure if having a straight pipe is good for the engine. That is very low mileage for a VFR and the engines are well-known to last a long time. Many of us on here are near 100000 miles and several are over that. I wonder if the straight pipe has something to do with the oil leak? At 16k miles, you are supposed to have a service done where they'd be taking the valve covers off and doing checks and such. If you can't figure it out maybe you should get it done early... I think I'd get a different pipe, though. Many members on here have bought after-market exhaust so they'll sell the stock pipes pretty cheap just to get them off the wall of their garages.

Awesome thanks for the link! Well there is some milkie white residue on the oil cap so that in conjunction with the smell it got me a bit worried! Going to try to acquire a compression gauge and check compression when I do the plugs and all!

I'm having issues navigating the site, mainly the search feature as you can't search per forum, only the entire forum! I'm reading a lot about charging issues on certain year bikes etc, and I know after briefly riding the bike today the battery was dead, and it started with no problem. Any suggestions on this? Going to have the battery tested and hopefully that's it...

Yea, I'm semi worried about if the exhaust is good for the bike or not. Doesn't seem to back fire, but is VERY loud.. It actually sounds amazingly good, very throaty and deep! I'd like an aftermarket exhaust over stock as I'm wanting to be heard to an extent!
