Nice job Don. Looks like it was in rather rough shape in the beginning.

I think I heard my ex wife barking in the back ground to the music though. A chill went up my spine.

I have a lift I think is the same as yours but it scares the hell out of me to put the bike up on that thing. Seems it sits there very precariously.

What a beautiful machine Don. Absolutely beautiful. You've done a masterful job! Now the tough part I guess. Keep it and put it on a pedestal with lights, keep it and ride it every day, or... <gulp> find someone who is willing to pay you what it's worth.

I spent about 2 weeks just cleaning the paint and grease off of the engine
and put in a clutch. Then I test ran the engine and finally decided to send it to Cycle Exchange
to rebuild. I am glad I did because It had more mileage and wear than I was led to believe.

There is no machine shop services near where I live.
Cycle exchange did a great job on the engine.
I usually do the engines myself but this time I think I made the right decision
    because of the circumstances.

I rebuilt the carbs and rejetted them etc.,.

Never trust any kind of lift device.
When I was in the US Air Force a chain holding a jet engine snapped and
hit the concrete, and It was tested every month or so.
Never put any part of your body under anything without precautions.
And remember there can be an earthquake anytime so make sure no gas can get
spilled etc., when you are not home, or it can cost you your home.
Use the lock pins. Hydraulics CAN leak over time.

It is very evident how much work you put into that machine.
