How do I determine what the crank code is on my 1986 700F so I can purchase the correct main and rod bearings?

I found a source of NOS and want to stockup before they are all gone.

    Thanks,
    j-

engine must be disassembled, you must be able too see each crankshaft counterweight , rod, and also rod bearings , also upper case, there is numbers , letters and colors,
there are 5 possible bearing sizes for journals and 5 sizes for rods ,due to tool and die aging ,,, so if your engine isnt apart,,, id say buy 4 of each size ,,,, a total of 40 bearings..

    regards Rail

40 bearings for 450 is a steal,,and they will only gain value ,,,you can be a 2nd gen bearing tycoon in a few years, buy 4500.00 worth and sit on em ,,

you must have the charts in the factory manual, it will show you the code breakdown,, again crank and rods must be visible also rear top engine case,, there are numbers and letters and a graph that you cross them on that tells you which bearing,,but remember those are based on zero wear ,,, and manual still recommends using plasti-gauge as final check,,,

I did this on my 954. I had worn bearings, but the crank was very good. Keep in mind that you can mix the bearing shells up to one color off in either direction. I ended up doing just that on one main journal. I think it was a pink/red combo and it brought my clearances right in to where they should be.
