Ugh. Low speed drop on the way to work last week, and the turn signal punched right through the upper cowl:

This bike is a daily commuter, 60 miles RT, and in fact that's all it does - got an XR for the weekend. Anyway, almost 100k miles and it has a salvage title from a previous run-in with a garbage can on the freeway (took out the upper cowl, front fender, left side fairing and rad., and a bunch of other misc. stuff that the dealership wrote up and I bought back from the insurance co.), so there isn't really much value left in it, and I'm not going to replace the plastic on a bike that I only use to get me to work. Anyway, here's my homage to WWII fighter aircraft:

I had the turn signals from a previous project on the aforementioned XR, so total cost was $8. (new mirror is on the way from Service Honda, but that doesn't count).

Someday she'll get dressed up again, in RC30 colors, but that'll have to wait until another bike takes it's place on a daily basis.

very nice. i would love to do a streetfighter vfr800. the radiators make it hared to do though. im playing with the idea of switching the tail to a cbr1000 with undertail exhaust.

    Thanks for all the replies.

To be honest, this is all I was shooting for. In person, it's somewhere between "ok" and "pretty good", but as vfourbear (I don't know whether to be scared of that avatar or turned on) put it, "a mans got to do what a mans got to do", and for that, it's perfect.

Looks good. Smoking rivets look good, but you gota do an air-brush affect to get them. Utilitarian is dah Viffers forte

Yarr me hardy......avast ye scurvy seadog......

    Agreed.

Pulled up along side a guy on a 4th gen. bike at a railroad crossing while waiting for a train to pass a few years ago. It was obvious that his bike had been down hard on the right side. All his fairing panels on that side of the bike were held together with staples that were spaced approximately 1/2 inch apart. Reminded me of Frankenstein. Looked kinda cool actually.
