Well, it's been quite some time since I've been on VFRW due to moving and all, so I just thought I would come in and say hi to everyone. In 2 1/2 years of owning my 86 VFR700F, I have officially ridden it from 13k to 60k. Only had to do a few things since I was last here, and they're simply general mainenance such as new battery, recovered the seat, new rear tire, and unstuck the choke thanks to a failing choke cable lol. I still get as much excitement out of riding her today as I did 2 years ago!

My next item on the agenda is getting as many riders as possible together from NWA, NEOK, SWMO, SEK as I can for a little meet and greet. If anyone around would like to participate, then let's make it happen!! Hopefully I can break out the legos and do a little repair on a few bolt holes that have broken out before we do

Also, I noticed that VFR Chuck is back doing business on Evilbay, so I plan on finally getting a rear seat cowl, and considering starting to piece together a new body from him so that I can do a full resto on mine before the bike rallies start. And maybe I can finally do a hurricane wheel swap and build a 4-2-1 Yoshi exhaust since I've been putting it off due to not being able to stay off my bike long enough to do it haha. Can't help but enjoy riding a 27 year old original...almost afraid to start switching it up.

I don't think VFR Chuck is well appreciated for his business practices here. Search the threads or just sit back and wait for some to post up on him. Some here have been waiting for a couple years for him to complete orders that have already been paid for.

    Welcom back Cotter.

haha yeah I know his service isn't well accepted, but at least thru Ebay/Paypal, if he fails to provide in the allotted time, I can simply get my money back...so at least I'm covered on that end. If I could find a perfect seat cowl somewhere else, I'd probably go that route instead

Welcome back. Good luck with getting your bike updated. We'd love to see pictures of the progress.

If you are planning on getting your money back if you don't get part in time, then just don't order from him. I do not recall one instance where parts were delivered anywhere near the alotted time that ebay gives for refunds. I repeat, DO NOT order from him if you expect to get it within a specific time frame. DO NOT ... DON'T

It's always the same story, good product, piss poor service. Just DON'T DO IT! If one can't provide a good product and good service then perhaps one should consider not selling.

    Oh, and welcome back.

p.s. Do not waste your money. Make it yourself and make a die for it, and start a legit side business.

Yeah, I've actually considered doin just that...making and selling the cowls. I'm also very good with vinyl and leather (haven't tried my hand at textiles yet), and had considered making color matching tank bras with cell phone and gps pockets, and even offer the option of a matching tank bag that could either zip onto or snap onto said tank bra. I have a set of soft-sided bags for my bike for some storage, and thought about getting a tank bag, but kinda came up with this idea instead so I'll hopefully get started on it very soon. It's kinda funny...this bike is 27 years old now, has 60k miles, while my zx11 is only 14 years old and only has 26k, and people say I'm crazy because all of my time is spent with the VFR and have barely done anything with the zx11. But once I do the bra/bag set, if it works out great, then I'll start building a set for the zx11, then move on to my friends Hyabusa and just keep going from there. Maybe I can turn it into a lucrative side business haha
