UniFilter is a well known brand of foam filter and is often talked about as the best offroad filter you can get.

Reminds me of the movie Gumball Rally when the Rolls Royce gets sand blasted in a dust storm. Definitely need an air filter of any kind vs velocity stacks. Gotta be a good place to sell air filters!

Two months ago I became the newest owner of a 12 year old VFR. Yesterday I checked the air filter as part of my intro-maintenance and discovered a lovely K&N air shield. I said shield because that's exactly what it did--the throttle bodies looked immaculate with zero visual dust particles underneath the filter:

Now I get to clean it

That's pretty much what I got when I tried one for a desert race one time... clogged after one loop. Intake/carb was cleaner than with a foam filter but it acted more like an air shield than an air filter. : (

If my K&N looked like that, I would have left it in. Mine has many holes, and I had never done a service on it.

i know you guys will think im crazy but im going to gut my stock filter and put this in instead. there is no dust where i live so i dont have to worry about that. i am worried it will be to loud though. it's my opinion that air filters are just HP restricters i've pulled them off all my cars and bikes as they just reduce volumetric efficiency and are OVERLY restrictive.

it's my opinion that anything that can make it though this stainless steal mesh will be irrelevant

it's to loud for me ( 95db when measured at the steering bolt at idle ) i put the snorkel and flapper back on . i was amazed at the noise difference putting the snorkel back in made . it basically made it 10dba quieter with it back in, even though the flapper was still open. i had a bit of a play and i couldn't get the flapper to close. im not sure when it's meant to though.

If you see a problem and don't try to fix the problem then you become part of the problem.....................Is that a problem?

I have a K&N. I bought it at the first filter change. It was the same price as paper but was reusable. I just cleaned and replied it for the third? Time and it's fine. There was no dust, dirt or other matter below the filter. I need another rejuvenation kit though $18 at Walmart. I bought for the reusable aspect. Hoped for a bit more breathing. Looking at the BMC cause it has more air flo.
But the whole sucky quality / Swiss cheese is BS. The pics show no oil or lightly oiled filter. The oil is pink the filter should be pink when you clean and reinstall. Sorry the OP had an issue but most people do not.

What I don't like about the reusable filters is the drying time. Cleaning, rinsing and re-oiling are the easy part.
