Anyone ever purchase the 5th gen solo seat cover from eBay?
Any feedback regarding these (non-OEM) cowls?

I am looking at this one:
Rear Seat Cover Cowl for Honda VFR800 98-02 Black 99 00 | eBay

It's from Hong Kong ding dong.. just want to make sure I don't spend $50 bucks and get something that doesn't fit.

But at the same time I would not spend $100+ for an OEM one..

It's not stock, so don't expect it to be perfeck, but at over 11k transactions & a rating of over 98 percent- I'd try it.

Consider this: The 5th Generation was 1998 to 2001. In 2002 the 6h Generation began, which is quite a different bike. The E-bay ad says this fits 98-02.

Maybe that's just a simple type-o, but if the manufacturer doesn't know the difference between the model years, I'd pass.

I'd say keep looking around for OE, even if you have to paint it.

Yeah.. I found an OEM one for $50 + 15 shipping.. but it would be from next state over (NJ) and I know it doesn't cost $15 to ship to neighboring states for something so small and light... Being a jew-jitsu is tough sometimes.

might not cost $15 to UPS but what does the packaging material cost and what does it cost the guy to run down and drop it off at the UPS store.

also - shipping costs aren't by weight, they are by size. UPS allows up to like 50lbs but the rate is calculated based on cubic size.

    I have a 5th gen red OEM seat cowl I will sell you for $50 + $15

I would rate this thing a 9 out of 10. May be able to buff out to a 10. One little 1/4" long scratch on the fight side that might not buff completely out.

$50 shipped is that Hong Kong aftermarket part you get to wait a month to receive.

my Hong Kong windscreen was 20 dolllars shipped to the US. It looked good but mysteriously developed cracks over night. Literally broke apart in my hands. I got a UK after-market screen on there now and its better. Hong Kong = Caveat Emptor

If he was willing to work on the price with me a bit I would be all over it.
I'd rather give $$$ to a forum member.. but I am super frugal as well.
This is my "budget bike" (if there is such a thing).

Yepp.. my two biggest expenditures are going to be exhaust & Sargent seat..

And seeing as all other shitty exhausts were $400-500.. the Hindle was a "deal" to me.

You might ask around and see if there's a local seat guy who can build you a custom seat. Generally the local guys are the same price as a Sargent or Corbin but you get it tailored to your own ass.

I would love an aftermarket exhaust too, for the weight loss, but can't swallow the $7-900 of a 6th gen undertail style.

LMAO Tink. I was going to make a post about buying it from you and paying the shipping then re-selling it at $60 with only $5 for shipping...
