    Hey Bandit,

Same thing happened to me on my 1st ride (when I rode it home from where I bought it...about 350 kms.) Onomea is exactly right, your body learns to adapt a better posture over time and it gets much more comfortable. (Ie. don't put all your weight on your hands, use your core strength to hold yourself up a bit...I'm 6'-00" and this works for me.)

I find I'm comfortable for rides under 2 hours, beyond that I really need to get off and stretch my legs.

I purchased my 2007 VFR new in 2009 as a retirement gift to myself. I was 60 then; now 63. This ride is a keeper for me!

I'd agree. I gave up riding for twenty years after moving to Las Vegas. I finally got back into it slowly and now own a 1987 VFR700F2. Like many bikes its age it needs some love but I am just electric when I ride it. Part of that is due to the fact that all auto drivers in Vegas are out to get you. That's presumed. But the other part is just the life it injects into you. Wow. I forgot the buzz riding gives you. And now that I'm just shy of 50 I concur the core muscles are the key to supporting your weight. It's a great ride. Women come and go but a good VFR is keeper.

I just have to comment on this even tough it's off topic. I truly don't understand what people mean when they complain about the drivers here in Vegas... maybe it has something do with the part of town I'm in vs. others, but I have no problems. Maybe it has to do with being used to aggressive New Jersey and NYC drivers, as well as commuting daily in the Bay Area traffic lane splittiing every day... but I ride every day in Vegas and don't think drivers here are bad at all. My philosophy is get in front of em and keep moving, don't get stuck in any "pockets". Anyway, if you still live in Vegas, bbtbrain, and wanna go ride somewhere, let me know!! I ride solo and with a couple groups, so one more is always welcome!! Our Viffers are different generations, but we're not, and I'm sure the bikes will figure out how to get along... :)

I've been riding bikes in Vegas since 1965, I'm still alive. The times I've been down were due to me doing dumb things. To keep on topic I'm 61. Chicky, post your next ride, I'd like to meet some Vegas VFR riders.

    60 with three VFRs

The age number has little to do with it IMO, more attitude and health. I've owned a total of seven VFRs, currently have three. I've also own and have owned many others, old to new, BMW to Ducati... I still need a V4 making its music at about 8000 rpm for those special days, and have a soft spot for 86's. Here's the latest with my "old" riding buddy on his new V-Strom:

Hey Doug, I will start a separate thread called "Calling all Vegas Viffers" to see if we can gather some of us together. Even if we can't, I'll use that post up when I'm going for a ride. Also, feel free to post up rides on that thread. When you see that thread, post up so we can start the "pickup". :) Catch ya over there!!

Here's the link to that thread so it's easier to find:

Just picked up my "new to me" 5th gen a couple of weeks ago. I havent had this much fun since I bought my 1981 Seca 750. I'm 56, not sure I consider myself 'old'.... Had the VFR out this afternoon for a 70 mile ride with the temps in the upper 30's/ low 40's here in NJ - lovin it!

Aloha BluRoad, What is the tailpack that you have on your bike. Looks pretty solid. Very nice '86.

Chicky I appreciate your glass half-full attitude but let me just tell you about yesterday driving in my car. At lunchtime I was cut off at least three times downtown by cars swerving across all lanes of traffic to get to another lane. No signal, no courtesy just a get the $(%* out of my way. It's a daily occurrence in town. And add on top of that the significantly higher than average amount of impaired drivers here and you do have some challenges. I've got to get mine over to Jack Baker to repair my clutch master cylinder that went out but I'm game here on a weekend soon. I'm not much for night riding on the highways these days. I'll keep in touch on your new thread.

My 65 yr old neighbor has a pearl white 06 with over 70k miles. It was the bike that made me sell my Harley to buy my 04. No regrets at all. I'm 40.
    I also have a 50 yr old coworker with a 98 VFR.

nice looking bike. You seem to like Maroon; I assume the auto in the background is yours. By the way the more you ride the younger you feel
