hi everyone. i'm looking at a 2005 vfr with 78000 kms. It seems like alot of miles or kms to me.The dealer acts like it is not many,of coarse he is a saleshole and wants to sell it.They sold it new and did all the maintanence,a big plus.It looks to be in nice shape. No dings or scrapes.I"m just afraid of buying something I can't sell later.

Chances are you never will sell it. Most VFR owners don't let go of a 6th gen (02 & up) bike- they're just too damn nice.

There's a fella on here selling an 02 with over 130k miles, and it runs like a top. In fact, after I hear back from him this week I may be buying it & riding it 2000 miles home...

As long as the basic maintenance has been done, everything is in good order (hoses, brakes, chain, etc...) and it runs well I'd say the only thing left to be afraid of might be the price. If it's a reasonable deal SNAG IT!

That begs the question: What is highest known mileage for each gen VFR?

thanks for the replies.I feel alittle better about it.I have been looking at it for 4 months. It looks and runs good with sargent seat, heli bars, staintune cans and honda bags. They had put new tires and chain on it and valve check was just done.

A guy over in the UK did over 400k miles (not km) before he swapped the motor and did another 400k.

I am pretty sure that was a 4th gen.

The Honda V4 motors seem to last forever if the basic maintenance is done. I've never actually heard of someone "wearing" one out. But, with that said, you should get a pretty good deal on it due to the mileage. I bought my '05 off the dealer lot for $4500. And that was with only 5000 miles on it! It's in showroom shape and came with a new set of tires. I would think you could do a lot better than that from a private sale.
