I managed to find a flooded road the hard way last night, Water as deep as a VFR should ever go. Headlight underwater a couple of times type deep.

Other than repack/replace wheel, steering head & swingarm bearings and going over the wiring loom with a hair dryer. what else should I do to keep her going?

Well it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out! hahahaha I so funny.......

Ok I'll help some. I would take some DeoxIT or the like caig.com - Home of DeoxIT® - CAIG Laboratories, Inc. and spray ALL your electrical connectors that got wet. It's not just the water as much as all the stuff in it that will corrode the contacts down the road. Check your breather system for water. Take a look at your carb/fi linkages for derbis. Basically go over the whole bike.

Wow, I don't even like doing that on my dirtbike. Having to pull the plugs and turn the bike upside down in the middle of nowhere can be disconcerting.
You must not have sucked any into the intakes since it kept running. watch for your oil turning to milk, a good indication it got in the crankcase. You will probably find the steerer and swingarm stayed dry but it never hurts to check them.
Did you get any pics, that would have been great to see!

Replace the rider with one who wouldn't ride their motorcycle into water deep enough to go over the headlight should be the first step.

I don't like doing it either, especially at night, so no photos. Would've spotted the deep patch before it was too deep to turn around if it was daylight. Thought I was about 20m further down the road than I was.

Took her for a ride today and everything seems ok. Actually running a bit better.

:pope2: unfortunately plan B would have been to take the 200Km detour, with 40Km of rising creeks on the way back. So out of the fry pan and into the fire.

Pull the plug wires out and use some compressed air down the plug tubes as they tend to get water trapped down there.

How about getting around on a canoe until all those floods you're getting down there recede? ;-)
