OK i have a 2011 honda vfr800, you know the one.

Brought a set of headers, from Sandy bike supply on ebay, from the UK (im in Oz) the price was right.
    My World

I tried fitting them yesterday, managed to destroy the gaskets, so ordered some more.

ive tried dry fitting them up today, with out gaskets.

its a tight tight fit onto the collectors the bottom collector appears to be on the very right of teh down pipes, the down pipes are slightly loose too., but i managedt to get a jack under it, when the bikes all up on stands, and get the bolt on the bottom on (where the origional cat bolts to the bottom of the block under the side stand that u motads dont have.

The front left down pipe is about 1cm away from the block, this pipe goes under the front right cylinder pipe, so it wont bend.

im not thrilled with the angle of the front right pipe either, seems like its not flush.

1>Now, what do i do, give up, put the origionals back on with the stain tunes i just brought to go with it
2>Take it to an exhaust shop, say heres large sum of money, fix and solve my headache.
3>have a hissy fit, throw them around, throw my self on the ground, scream and kick and throw my arms around?

I want to know, if its wise to bend them on the bike, bolt the front ones on, then jack the rear up, are the exhaust studs strong enough for this?

I must say I had to fit, refit, throw a fit, curse, remove, install , drink some beer, try again and finally got the whole thing to line up when I did mine but it was a true blue pain in the ass and did not look like it was gonna fit for a bit. I would definitely contact the manufacturer before cutting on it though. V-4 exhaust is enough to justify slapping a baby or kicking a puppy.

by jove, ive done it, i think, it just requires, a hammer, muscles (which i dont have) and fine patience, i connected the front ones up, belting it with a hammer until it fits, it seems twisting is limited by teh side stand making it difficult.

the mount underneeth only has 1 bracket, where as the oem has 2, which side should it go on, i managed to get it on the left side, its not quight lined up though and hte exhaust rests agaisnt the frame, i suspect it should go on the right, ive left it jacked up into place, in some form of hopes that it will sorta form its shape, i havnt got the gaskets in yet.

This may be a seriously stupid question for us mild steel header guys, but why are the SSSpares a better gig than 6th gen OEM? Both are stainless steel no? They look to have the same diameter too.

    Weight reduction and less clutter.

Stock cat-equipped headers weigh in at a hefty 14.65 lbs.

Sandy Bike Spares headers weigh in at 9.75 lbs.

i havnt measured them, but it feels like atleast half the weight, they are a bigger diameter and no catalytic converter (which fixes a lot of problems)

as for looking forward to fitting them, i wouldnt be, prepare for a mental break down.

    Lol.

I was just kidding Storm Shadow. That's why I posted this simile >>>:frusty: of the little frustrated guy banging his head against a wall.

i think the trick is, dont fit them like motads, start front first, with a jack and a rubber mallet and some kind of leavering stick, and have a friend or two, more hands...

Well that might be Storm Shadow but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do,besides I've got a hard head with the lumps to prove it.

If my rubber mallet doesn't work I'll just break out the ol' "noggin hammer".
Hey whatever you gotta do to make it fit, right! :chaingun:

i undid the clamp today, packed a heep of high temp silicone around it, put the clamp back on and tightened the buggery out of it, and now i have zero exhaust leaks, but a bit of red silicone everywhere.

I was unable to get the heat sheild bolt back on, back on for some reason, but its still on the foot peg mount.

I put the K&N high flow air filter in, but i dropped a screw somewhere, in the engine and my magnetic tool wont find it, i also discovered affter undoing the bolts, that theirs a hinge on the tank and the wire stop rope, didnt make it easier, i rather take the whole tank off tbh.

Also dropped the oil, put a high flow K&N oil filter on, i love the nut on these things, and filled her full of motul 7100 full synthetic, at only 5500, probably a bit too early for full synthetic oil really.

uploading a video now, as ive removed the baffles, she howls. almost got her back together now, just gota put the side fairings back on, all those pannier brackets take so bloody long to take off and put back on.
