    Opinions? 4 into 1 exhaust versus 4 into 2.

The 4 in - 2 out exhaust chamber on my 85 VF750F is shot. Sourcing another in good condition maybe difficult. I have found a 2nd hand 4 into 1 system off a parts VF750. I am waiting for phtots to see exactly what it is....it has to look good right!!

What is the main advantage/disadvantage of having a 4 into 1. Will it be noisier?

On a stock engine not much. There are many factors for exhaust when trying to squeeze hp from different type of exhausts. Just pick the one you like/looks good to you. Biggest savings start with less weight. Even that is small. You may or may not have to recalibrate the carbs a little. It's a street machine, right?

If it's to loud it's not that hard to quite down for most.

Probably won't be able to use a center stand if you want to.

Oh true.......And I do like having a centre stand - It will probably come down to how cool the 4 - 1 looks like that makes my decision "Image is everything"

I can't as I've ever seen a 4-1 for a Gen 1 750F. All of them have been 2 2-1's including the Factory race bikes and probably for a reason. There were 4-1 Mac's around but I thought they were for the Magna's(750C) and a different pipe entirely. I'd be curious to see this F 4-1. Maybe you guys got some pipes that we didn't.

    4 into 1 photos

Heres some photos of the 4 into 1 exhaust system. Still has centre stand and aparently a mellow sound - not too loud. It looks a bit rough but aparently no gravel rash so should clean up OK

Cool, dude! As long as the headers are intact, just sandblast and either use the pipe that came with, or bolt something else on. If you paint, use the 2000 degree coating.
