    Hey guys,

I am doing a bit of personal research. I was wondering how far you usually ride in a day.

    How far commuting?

How far on a Sunday canyon or back road ride?

And on a long trip, how many miles a day do you feel is reasonable for the average VFR rider. I always aimed for 500 a day myself.

    Thanks,
    Rich

    Miles mean nothing to me.
I commuted 15 miles round trip for a while.
No problems riding all day to get somewhere. Most in one day=850 miles. Coulda done more if I had time.

We have lots of high milers here.

When its not snowing, I commute on the VFR 50 miles a day. A good day mileage for me is 350 to 400 riding backroads, 500 is definitely doable on the slab, although I'd rather have an ST1300 for that. If my other half is occupying the back seat I try to keep rides under 250 miles with plenty of stops. Still kinda want and ST1300, just nowhere near as fun as the VFR...

66 miles per day. Monday through Friday. 91-300 on weekends... Habitually. With 5-8 hundred thrown in randomly about 'a half dozen times 'a year.

I'm supposed to ride this thing? I thought the object was to modify it and just take pictures of what I done to it! Great, now I got to get a Class M1 license.

I travel @80-100 MI Daily, but sometimes I don't need to leave the house, so 0 MI on those days.

Thank you guys. As a follow up, of those who do 300-500 mile days. When you do those days, how often do you stop, and for how long?

If I'm doing 300+ miles, I like to stop at least every 100-150... I try to drink water, too but forget a lot. I usually try to take some ibuprofen when starting out, too. I really don't like going over 400 in a day but sometimes I do it.

I find I usually only stop for ten or fifteen minutes but find the relief(I guess thats what you'd call it) doesn't last long. Stopping for a good half hour and walking around will really relieve the tension and and fatigue longer.

Commutes: 10-25 miles, Sunday blast: 75-400 and Long Rides: 500-900 (a day). For any rides over, say, 2-3 hours I'll wear a CamelPak loaded with ice and Gatorade, with a 10-20 minute break during refuels.

On long rides I stop for about 15 minutes during fuel stops and take one longer break for lunch.

I don't have to commute anymore, but used my bike to get work since I started. I did a 180 kay (110 mile) daily commute for 9 years. These days I go for about a 2-3 hour blat, I find that If I go riding in company, then its an all day ride. Distance is dependent on which direction we go & the type of roads. To be honest, a day riding back roads can to more tiring that cruising highways for hours on end. I stop when my arse goes numb & go when I get feeling back into it.

Commutes were anywhere from round trip 40 miles to 90 miles. Now, I do 40 miles or so a day. Weekends I am caging it! Used to do 200 mile days when I lived up North, here if we do that we end up in Key West or Naples which is on the wrong side of Florida  (West Coast) Anywhooo, riding never gets old, after 27 years and over 200,000 street miles, I get my nut sack off every time. Beats driving...

180km/day 5 days a week when there's no chance of snow or ice or salt or sand on the roads.

I log about 100 miles total from November until March.

When I commute, 40 miles round trip, 3-4 times per week.

Weekend runs average about 150 miles (give or take), but probably 120 of those are spent on "small" back roads with posted speed limits of 25mph being violated.
