So, 5th Generation folks, where is the best place on the bike to stash the relay distribution block from the canyon chasers page?

.: Distribution Block / Powered Relay | Canyon Chasers Motorcycle Sport Touring :.

My plans are to run the Stebel horn, a 12V cig adapter right away.

Second state will be heated gear/grips/comfort gear and probably other stuff.

My first thought is to mount the inline fuse and relay along the left side square tubing under the seat near the battery for ease of access to the license plate light wire and keep the fuse and relay close to the battery.

    Any other thoughts, photos, etc??

    Thanks folks.

I'm in the same boat on a 6th Gen. Looking at different types of blocks right now but I thought at one point there was a specific block for the VFR's electrical mess. I will probably mount mine between the seat rail and the rear of the bike. I don't like under the seat since you need to take your seat off and on to get to it. There's slots on either side on my bike behind the main line by the battery. I've also seen them put alongside the battery compartment close to the tank.

I looked at it a little while ago and yea, that would be a real bitch of a job to get to if not damn near impossible. I would mount mine in the compartment behind the battery or right next to the battery cover. Did you figure anything out yet?
Thanks for the tip on the beaver box, now I have a whole website worth of stuff to order!

Nothing yet. I'd really like to see some pictures of installs. Most blocks are generally the same size and shape so finding a good location away from excessive heat or a good place where the wires can be routed with less problem. I just want to do this right the first time and with the experience in this place, I'm ready to learn.

I installed a relay and power block for my heated grips and heated jacket.

The relay is hooked up to the tail light (when the tail light gets power, the relay triggers). When the relay is triggered, power flows along a thick wire to the power block located inside the left side of the faring.

There's lots of room in the faring for a power block, and with one side of the faring off the block is easy to get at for adding accessories.

Keep in mind you won't be adding/removing accessories often. The power block doesn't NEED to be accessible at all. Do it once and forget about it.

I have two Heat-trollers hooked up to the block. One powers the heated grips, the other powers the plug to my electric jacket. That plug is stashed out of sight and is only pulled out when needed.

All said, I the relay and power block cost about $15 at Radio Shack. I already had the wire.

5th Gen accessory and ground block location

I installed the wire my bike "Bundle" @
    Wire My Bike
Under the seat in and around the battery manual area. I did take the manual out to make room for the accessory connection blocks.
I also have a power commander module in the area also. there is an over all picture and the left side cover hides the relay

At the same time I installed a new RR
    Wire My Bike
I also added ground wires from the back of the RR to the frame, frame to battery and battery to accessory ground block. Grounds very important!

    Hope this helps
