Hey guys, have only 5600 miles on my bike (2002) and since installing low beam HID lights I have had my bike stall on me now three times the last month or so. Downshifting and coming to a light and it just dies, click to neutral and starts right back up and no problems for the rest of the ride. WTF went by Honda today after it happened two hours before and he just gave me a blank look and said- uh I don't know what to tell you, scratching his head. I asked him if he could call Honda and see if there is a fix or what . OK thanks

I'd be surprised if it was related. you might check to see if there are any FI codes stored in the computer.

I am not intimate with Honda's motorcycle ECU. However, with every FI system I've worked with; every time there's an erroneous reading picked up by the ECU, it does not latch the light. It stores the code until there is a consistent measurement out of spec. Checking to see if there are any codes could lend a clue of where to start looking.

checking codes is easy. I found a youtube vid the other day - will try to find it again.

When I first got my bike I had the exact problem with my '06 VFR 800, engine cuts off coming to a stop or a quick slow down. It turned out to be my idling speed being too low at 850-900 rpm. I adjusted the idl to 1100 rpm and no more problems.

Yes I concour, the idle of the 6th gen needs to be more like 1400 to reliably and smoothly idle. Also, not to be an ass, since you just did a HID install, check your connections @ the battery, especially grounds. Might have knocked something loose, or not tightened with a wrench just the fingers.

Thanks guys , ya let it warm up and bumped it up 13.5. Had Scubalong do the HID,s and he was VERY meticulous installing them, after doing it on a ton of VFR's I really dont think that had anything to do with this ( I hope )huh ya what he said

I had the exact same problem with mine. Would come to a hard stop and it was dead. Set idle to 1400 and problem solved.
