new to the bike world

    hey vfr world, my name is nicky and my first bike is a 1985 Honda VF500F Interceptor, the bike is 9 years older then me.. well heres a picture of her..

    not in the best condition but all i need is a new gas tank and a carb cleaning.

    that sounds like a VF500. Good luck. Start with a thorough cleaning and inspection. Most likely many things have been neglected. Don't spend much $$ on it. They just aren't worth much. IF you didn't dump out the gas when you got it and it was old, you better drain it now and drain your carbs. Hopefully you can get by without having to take them off which is a pain IMO. Check all your spark plugs. See if they are discolored. See if they are wet from trying to start it. I think someone typed up a better guide for what to look for but damned if I remember where it is. welcome to the site.

    From looking at your other thread it seems you have work to do. (either on this bike or another one)

    On a higher note: you will come to find out that MC riding is freaking awesome. It's the best way to cruise the highway for scenery or eat up curves. Or even the best way to meet your buddies to troll for mall ass!
