Funny thing is I don't recall ever riding an Un-FuN Motorcycle. Looked at in a vacuum devoid of any other crap, if it goes down the road, turns and stops its fun! Period end of story. Its when you start comparing your Puch moped to your friends Motobecane you start to come up with short comings.

This is the Open Moped Forum aint it? Ride what you got and be thankful that you can throw a leg ova your stuff.

The NTV 700 or as it's known here the Deauville is a very common sight on British roads. I think that this may be because more Brit riders use bikes for commuting and general transport than is usual in America. I'm on my 3rd Deauville the previous 2 being 650s. Not having a car licence this is my main means of personal transport

I couldn't agree more. However surely part of the fun of mororcycling is the banter between riders over their choice of ride. As long as it remains just banter and doesn't become serious or personal then I see no harm it

[QUOTELOL... troll. Kawasaki nails a crap fairing to their mediocre Z1000 and it's the second coming of Christ. It's so perfect that they need a $3000.00 discount to move them. And the VFR1200 is a POS because you sat on one and can't afford it.

    Enjoy your bike. ][/QUOTE]

I am enjoying it. I can't help it if I got the bike at a good price. I bought my 2006 VFR800 for $8,000.00 OTD with bags and bag liners. It had 734 miles on it. I traded a 2007 Ducati ST3 in on it and had NO regrets there at all. Did I love my VFR? Hell yeah. Is it better than the Ninja 1000? Nope. but the VFR's character is unmatchable. The Ninja doe not have a crap motor. You shouldn't comment on what you know not. The fairing is actually very nice also. All the mounting screws for the fairings are hidden. It has a very sleek look.

Had there been a dealership with a VFR 800 in the showroom I probably would never have ventured out of Honda World.

And for your information, I can afford any bike I want. What I choose is what I like. I've owned Beemers amd Ducatis, Nortons and Moto Guzzis. I've owned all the jap brands. I give hats off th Honda for build quality excellence in the Jap market. That's why I wish they had a VFR 800. I was not insterested in a VFR 1200. Shaft drive was nice but not something i absolutely need. I could have bought a Kawasaki Concours if I was looking for a bargain, or even a Suzuki Bandit for that matter. Both bikes to me were heavy and not that technically advanced. I don't need or use any more power than a liter bike would put out. The VFR800 was perfect for me. My 2006 Interceptor may not be the last one I have.

Enjoy your VFR 1200. I'll spank you on any backroad of your choice. At least I don't pay $!5k+ for a bike that basically comes with nothing. Should have had heated grips and hard cases for that price, IMO. But Honda is always about $2k more than it's comparable Jap competition.

    Ok!

    1 month and 5k km's
I still love the bike. The bike is very stable, confortable and fun, like as I think in the begining. You can do all in this bike, you can go slowly, faster (for this bike), enjoying the landscape or just going to work. Zero problems and the consuption is about 6/7 L in 100km's. And the VTEC is something of another world eheheheh
put some questions if you want (it's more easy for me LOL)

HI Jose I'm glad that you are enjoying your bike. i'm loving mine having just had a week away touring the Scottish highlands on it. it was great on the single track roads up there and fine on the long motorway haul back down South to my home. Fuel consumption has been good at 50+ MPG (imperial) overall. I personally find the bike more comfortable than my VFR1200 was and quite honestly in real world riding situations I don't miss the extra power that much.
I have to say that so far I'm still pleased with my choice. 4000 mile service booked for next week.

I agree. My bike makes only 100 HP, give or take, but the relative lack of power doesn't matter that much when we hit the curvy roads.

Well over 5000 miles on the clock now and I'm as happy with the bike as I was the day I bought it. With the weather in the UK being more like summer than september the Deauville hasn't beem out of the garage for days as I'm using the Xrunner for the daily 75 mile commute

Just thought that I would give you an update on my Crossrunner. I have now done 6000+miles and I'm extremely happy with it. I'm getting 50+MPG (imperial) whilst touring so thats not too bad. I found the luggage sufficent for a solo tour up to Scotland so as the wife has her own bikes that's just fine. Under a lot of circumstances I actually find it more fun than my VFR1200DCT was. So anyway despite a lot of peoples criticisim of this bike I love it.
Can't think of anything to add which is a good thing because it means that there have been no problems

Not surprising, because it is the VFR 800 in different trim.

Well, I'd have to ageee. I used my 2006 Honda Interceptor probably for 80% commuting at least and then touring and fun. I used that bike to it's limits even in commuting though, weaving in and out of 3 lane traffic with ease to and from work, even with the Givi bags.

I happened to like the VTECH system. The 'trick' is to keep the revs up to about 6krpm and just a twitch of the throttle kicks in the entire engine. That's when the bike let's you know that you can kill yourself quite easily if you don't know how to handle it.

At least I haven't heard people saying that the VFR800 would be a good starter bike, because truthfully it would not.

I can appreciate the people that love their Crossrunners. Probably a bit more flickable than the VFR800 since the front end is higher.

I love my 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 (yep, bags and heated grips, but still an urban commando... errr Ninja). Thank God I bought the first year's model as I hate the 2012 color offering. I still think my VFR800 was a better overall fit for me. The Kaw is narrow and my legs feel kinda naked in the wind compared to the automatic grip of the bulging sides of my old VFR. Maybe I'm bow-legged?! It is more like riding a horse than my Ninja, for sure. I would consider another VFR800 if they left it alone but dropped about 50-100lbs by using more modern materials, and a tad better offering up front suspension-wise.

All in all though I still miss my old VFR. I gave out parts to people online that wanted them, so she lives on here and there. She was a classy, hot bitch though, whereas the Ninja is just a beastie boy.

    Just my opinion though.
