Howdy All. I recently got my second baby-ceptor and it runs great but is hurting cosmetically. I'm planning on a diet od K&N and jet kit,F2 wheels and late model shock and fork upgrade. A really clean 1989 Hurricane came up locally that is cheap and missing it's motor and wiring harness. So that got me thinking....! Does anyone know if a V-4 will fit in a CBR frame? Or put the body of the CBR on the VF? Or will the swing arm/shock and wheel go from the CBR to the VF? Any info or links to these two swapping parts would be great! I've searched and found lots of info but maybe you can help me out. Thanks in advance...

the vf motor into the cbr, not sure
but you could make the plastics fit the vf, just have to do some fab work
and about the swingarm/wheels/shock talk to jamiedaugherty

I'd say the frames are different width the inline motors are wider the the V-4 soooo if your down with fabing engine mounts and also you got to remember to keep the chain straight.

I'm hoping the 1989 frame is steel as I work at a steel supply company and I'm pretty handy with basic steel fab tools. The seller is busy with X-mas and all but I hope to ride over to his place with my 500 and a tape measure. The V-4 package is pretty tall from the top of the airbox to the bottom of the exhaust collector. It seems most people go straight to the F2 wheels to have modern tires and I've read that the Hurricane front wheel goes straight on with a speedo drive mod, but what about the Hurricane rear wheel on the VF swingarm? I'm thinking of keeping this possible project as a "all 80's Honda" type of thing. I had great results once putting Yamaha Fz mono suspension on a SRX 600 Super-single. It turned out great...

Thanks for the link. I might just go for the F2 wheels as I love the look and positive results others talk about. So many possibilities...

Those first gen CBR600's have issues with Frame cracking. I don't think you should start messing with dropping a V4 in there.

Just put the CBR wheels on there and upgrade the shock/forks.

    Your project sounds interesting.

Another angle would be to base the build on a Hawk GT frame and single sided swingarm using a VF500F engine. Often Hawk GT frames and swingarms are listed on eBay for a song.

This said, I am always a fan of project bikes! Good luck and please keep us posted on your progress!
