Can you get insurance for your bike during a track day ? I have State Farm Ins., and they say no. Told them it was NOT a race, or timed event, and it was for instructional education.

I thought i had heard some folks have insurance for track days ???

Pretty much what he said, truck it home and drop it in the driveway.

Single vehicle incident, no injuries, no damage to other property, friend trucked it home... That's all you have to say.

If they request a police report, you can go file one yourself with the CHP. Just remember the details. When, where, how, why (doing the speed limit, some gravel in the road, blah blah blah)... PLUS: single vehicle incident, no injuries, no damage to other property, friend trucked it home...

but now he has asked his agent about it... I'd feel pretty guilty. (even though I think insurance is a big scam)

Doesn't mean he actually went or that it even happened on the track day. Might have to let it sit a week or two.

It's really not up to the insurance agent to decide anything, they just pass it on to claims...

And the purpose of the track isn't to go wreck your bike, but that definitely can happen. You're there to safely ride to your own abilities in a controlled environment, not to push way beyond that. That's just asking for trouble.

TORI, the weather for your track day Sunday is predicted to be in the high 60's and sunny. Have alot of fun out there and be safe. I will be there Monday for our track day, with good weather and clear conditions in the outlook. I will obviously be there with my new VFR, also thinking about taking my 1972 MACH IV 750 just for s**ts and grins. Have fun guys!!!

There are no normal street policies that will cover damage as a result of a track incident. As soon as they here "racetrack" you're out of the provisions of any normal motorcycle policy. (My buddy's an insurance broker)

There are, however, specialty policies offered by some insurance companies for events such as this, some even for an individual day but they are hard to find and cost huge dollars because of the risk incurred. You may feel you want to just chance it after researching into these policies.

Stripping the bike as best you can of your street stuff, mirrors, lights, etc., or getting some bodywork from a wrecker may be your best insurance. You'd be amazed how careful you are on the track with your street bike.

Thank you for the information. That pretty much sums up what my agent told me. I dont know where i heard that you could get insurance, but obviously it was incorrect. Guess i'll just suck it up if damage occurs. Thats what i did last time. (as a result, i can still afford to insure and ride the new bike. guess it paid off)
