That's great news jabo1. I hope the US gets the same consideration as Europe on this one. I really have no issues with the bike but I'd love to get rid of the restriction in the lower gears if I can, just to say I did it. And it would be nice of Honda to pay for it instead of having to wait forever and then pay for a Bazzaz unit.

Stewart mentioned the Power Commander. A local shop was just having a sale on the PCV and installation/dyno runs. I also opted for the Auto Tune as well. The VFR1200 is already pretty smooth so I can't say I felt a big difference right off the bat. The before and after power curves are pretty identical except for gaining 3.7hp. Unfortunately the weather in Colorado has been such that I can't do a real canyon run to feel what's going on. I went on a 100 mile loop last Sunday and the bike "might" feel a little smoother, but it could just be a placebo affect. Of course, the PCV/Auto Tune installation does nothing for the 1st/2nd gear restrictions but I figured it would be a good thing to do anyway. Now I'm not so sure but I guess picking up a few extra horsies is never a bad thing.

Max power went from 139.28 to 142.98 just in case you're interested. They didn't measure torque. I'll scan the printout and post it in a new thread.

EDIT: I should mention that the only mod to my bike is a LeoVince slip-on. I don't know how much difference, if any, that made to performance.

I hope so too, thats a good boost in hp, do you have any other mods? pair valve or air box? I've read you can get 8 or 9 ponies pretty easy and some modest weight savings can feel the difference. can't wait to get mine, sold my 07 fjr and saving for the difference. some great deals right now, but with the accessories i want add's another $3000! got any pics of yours? or advice for a newbie? haven't even seen one in person yet! lol

No other mods on my bike except for a LeoVince cf slip-on. I uploaded the dyno report to a new thread so you can see it there. To be honest I don't really feel the need to start tearing into this bike to look for more power. It runs very strong. I had a Gen 6 before this and the Gen 7 is only 40 lbs heavier but has 40% more power and better suspension. I'm pretty damned happy with it.

In my opinion (take it for what it's worth), anyone who knocks this bike is either jealous of it, has never ridden it, or is getting their opinion from someone else who is either jealous of it or has never ridden it. I've owned a LOT of nice bikes in my time and this is one of the most perfect motorcycles I've ever had. It's superbike fast, handles like it's on the proverbial rails, is comfortable for long-distance rides in stock form, and has a very unique (almost exotic) look. The only other thing I'd like to do to this bike is de-restrict 1st and 2nd gear, but not because I have huge issues with the way it runs - just because I would rather not have those gears restricted.

The only thing I'm pissed at Honda about is the fact that they don't include hard bags in the price. Most of its competitors come with them. And then to make them so expensive to buy separately really sucks. FU Honda. There, I said it. I bought a set of Ogio saddlebags and an Ogio tail bag for $150 and I'm good. I'd much rather have the hard bags due to the ease of installation and de-installation (and the good looks) but oh well. I'm a sport rider anyway, not a tourer, so the soft luggage does fine.

You're making a great choice. You will love this bike, I guarantee it. The FJR is a sweet machine so it's not like you're coming from a much lesser bike. However, I think you'll really dig the power and handling. The VFR leans more to the SPORT side of Sport Tourer, and the FJR leans a little more towards TOUR. Both are great bikes.

    Here's a pic of mine:

I agree, was shocked to see the price of the hard luggage. the dealer i found said i could come test ride one but i think that will just be a formality. probably do the hard bags and some heli bars, pcv mapping and a dam aftermarket exaust, some sliders, rear fender hugger, center stand, and maybe a zg light smoke windsheild. thanks for the reply, will post some pics of mine when i get it

Jabo1, those are definitely some nice upgrades you're planning. I bought a Pit Bull rear stand instead of a center stand. I can't see needing to lift the bike while on the road so why take along the extra weight? Just my .02 although I'm probably forgetting some great reason to have it. :)

One thing to add - the test ride might not show you all its goodness. I thought the bike was very good when I bought it but I love it more and more with each ride. It never fails to impress me with its all-arounder capabilities.
