    Hi All
I have been asked If I could do a short piece on my VFR400 project, so here goes..
The bike was in good mechanical condition but the bodywork was a bit tatty when I bought the bike.
After riding it for a while , I thought it would be good to race rep it in the NR750 colours.
When the bodywork was removed only a few parts of the origional fairing was kept ,all other panels were sourced over a few months off ebay and breakers.
A fair amount of rubbing down and prep needed doing.

My mate Andy supplied all the expertise ,time and spraying

I had the wheels powder coated white & found a mint condition tank to replace the origional dented one.
Then more rubbing down and base coat applied
    [IMG]

I managed to buy an Ethos race system from France , race pipes are rather difficult to find ,so I was lucky.
Had a nightmare trying to remove a rounded off exhaust bolt on the rear header
    [IMG]
So after removing the swing arm and rear sub frame and using an Irwin extractor ( my new favorite tool)
    Off the nut came
Now with the new pipe on , swing arm and sub frame back on an adjustable jack up bracket was made up from 8mm rose joints and short lengths of threaded rod whiched replaced the bottom linkage, this jacked up the back a bit, stiffening the rear end and quickening the stearing somewhat.
I did the rear brake line tidy trick by drilling the swing arm near the pivot bolt and on the underside before the wheel hub. Then after removing the end of the braided line ,threaded it through the swing arm. Sorry I could not find a photo of this.
Back on to the body work
    [IMG]
My mate Andy ,happy we had at last finished the top fairing
    [IMG]
Once all the panels and tank were painted they were put on the bike to be taped and masked.
The red and blue paint was applied and flattened .
Decals were ordered and applied then all panels and tank were removed and cleaned before the lacquer was sprayed.
All the fasteners were replaced as well all those little Honda rubber blocks and trims.
Also cleaned up the fork legs and sprayed them with Hammerite silver
    The finished bike

I have since sold the NC30 as the little thing hurt my back !

Lovely! Thanks for the post. The NC30 is one of my favorite designs. It looks good from every angle. I'm keeping hope alive that the design team at Honda will release a VFR400R or VFR500R with modern running gear, a 360 degree crank and a 4-1 exhaust.

It would have been interesting to see how the design team went about sculpting the front fairing. Really a work of art. Again, well done on the resto!

Very sweet. I would castrate Toecutter with River rocks then sleep with his sister for that bike.

I would not only cut of a third of TOE CUTTER's finger with a supercharger, but I would then castrate him with river rocks and have sex with his sister while she diddled herself with his finger tip , for that bike......

And lad if I'd known you were in to trade that beautiful VFR4 for a Thruxton I'd have made you a deal you couldn't refuse.
