After my most recent VFR tire change at a greater Boston, MA dealer I vowed NEVER to have a dealer service department touch my VFR again. Not only did they scratch the sh*t out of my rims, but they charged me for balancing they did not do (no weights). I purchased the tires at the dealer and spent over $500, and that was 3 years ago. This time I purchased the tires on-line (Pilot Road 3) for about half that and did it myself on a recently acquired No-mar classic changer and balancer. The no-mar comes with a dvd of instructions which are also available on-line. I paid $940 for the changer and balancer delivered, and while pricey, delivers in performance. Plus it saves me the time and frustration of dealing with obnoxious "service" personnel. I highly recommend the no-mar to anyone frustrated with dealer tire or tire mounting prices or lack of service. See no-mar's web page at: nomartirechanger.com for specifics. If you find the price out of reach, consider splitting it with some riding buddies.I am so happy to have this tool in my garage, I only wish I would have done it sooner.

Same here, I refuse to bring my bike to a dealer for repair work. I mount & balance my own for way less with a home made bead breaker, a couple of spoons, and I use OJ container plastics for the rim savers.

I agree. A couple of buds and I went in together and purchased the No-Mar tire changer for the very same reasons. It has paid for itself many times over. Good product but it is just a bit harder than than they make it look in the videos but not by much.

A spray bottle of Windex makes getting rims on/off sooo much easier. If you haven't tried it, remember for next time. I could not believe how much better the beer tasted when I wasn't frustrated. :drinker:

MickyMike, living on the north shore of Boston also, I went to one of those "greater boston" dealerships near my house to get some tires put on my 94VFR. They quoted me $483 to put on a set of BT-016's like they were doing me a favor, that was three years ago. I told them they were nuts and went out and bought a No-Mar pro package about a week later. I love this machine! I've done a LOT of tires since I bought it three years ago and have become somewhat of a celebrity with the local riders. The people who bring tires to me all say the same thing about the prices, crappy service and scratched up wheels at the local dealership on 128. The people at No-Mar are great to deal with, alway excellent service and they stand behind their product 100%.
