I saw the AGM YTZ12S Battery on Ebay for around $45 with shipping. Anyone have any experience with this battery? I think this cold winter weather has put an end to my 6 year old battery. That's pretty good life from a factory battery. But $178 for the stock replacement seems a little ridiculous!

MY bike now has a Deka AGM and of all the bikes I've owned, this thing is easily the most powerful...wild how eagerly it wants to turn the starter over!
I'm looking forward to doing nothing to it this winter then simply starting up in the spring.
If it's the right fit for your bike, that seems a pretty good price too...

If you are leery about ebay, Batteries Plus has a reasonably priced AGM battery works well in the VFR. Got mine last year. Good luck.

Well, maybe I was a little pre-mature on needing a new battery. I stuck my Battery Tender on it for a couple days and it seems as good as ever. I took out my voltmeter and the battery looks like it is holding a charge. I checked the charging system with the engine running and got a reading of a rock solid 14.3V at all RPM's. It might have been partially due to the temperatures being only about 16 to 34 deg F. I have a '05 VFR with only 5000 miles on it so maybe it have never had a full charge put on it. I'm thinking it still has the original battery in it. But, I'm not sure. If it is 6 years old it's definitely due for a change. I'm keeping the Battery Tender on it until Spring.
