Definitely less crowded on Friday. Today had a pretty decent attendance. Not as big as I remember from past years. Found a killer deal on a set of Dainese leathers though!

Unfortunately no, they had the Race version of the RC8 there. Samething with EBR.....forget the name that bike, but it was amazing piece of machinery. The brakes had a air scoop vented to keep them cool...never seen that on a bike before.

Vented brakes? What will they think of next? Isn't that amazing?

Never heard of them until now. They are right up there with 200mph VFRs getting 100mpg and vegetable slicers ;)

Then again the TC may come close and norkleboy certainly has half a dozen in his parents basement.

What you saw I think, were vented disc brakes. Common on race cars and common on bikes and cars with drum brakes. Many examples. Commonly called scoops. How effective such a device is on a streetbike, may be questionable. A racebike maybe. One of the things seen at the 24 Hours of LeMans were the discs glowing from the heat. Composites pretty much took care of that.

Some racebikes have no brakes.. Early flattrackers dating from as far back as 1910-15. Board trackers too. LA had board tracks that were 2.5 miles in diameter.. Speedway bikes as well. If you wanna see shit and git, check out some speedway action. These guys do wheelies while dragging thier knees. Ventura Fairgrounds used to be the place to go for Speedway.. Lots of guapa chicas too..

I was most likely in amazement that they started using it on bikes...you would think it would have enough ventilation as is. Heres a pic of it :)

Even composites and pure carbon still glow from heat under extreme breaking by professional riders/drivers, nothing has changed in that respect. What has changed is that pure carbon and carbon composite rotors and pads actually work more efficiently and remain more consistent as they reach the upper ranges of operating temperature. The scoops do work and that has been proven in wind tunnel testing by some of the brightest engineers and aerodynamisists in the upper echelons of racing today.

That EBR is a beautifully done machine.

Nice looking setup. Looks like there is a totally engineered brake system going there. Scoops for drum brakes go back to who knows when. Same theory of heat decreasing effeciency. I bet norkleboy has them on alll his bikes..LOL

Tell ya what though, I'd sure hate to catch a rock or some roadkill in one of those openings at speed. Kind of like some Ducs with the oil radiator out there in the breeze with not even a shield or scoop of some sort.

Any price on that bike? Try to be gentle if ya got what they cost.. ;)

Its a pretty penny, but one thing is, the bike is race ready. In the last race of the AMA superbike, a customer bought this same model, and for Eric Buell wanted to prove that the bike is a good package out of the box, (and with the customers permission and maybe an discount) raced the customers bike straight from the factory, then after the race, shipped it to the customer. lol

The Gas Gas trial bike demo was badass. (would have paid $10 bucks just for that...)

Good for Eric Buell. Now norkleboy will have to change his tune because the bike was in an AMA race and is now a POS.

Any idea what that puppy cost?
