Michelin Road 2s are just the best tyres around for my VFR, brilliant grip wet and dry, unbelievable milage and (touch wood) no easy punctures like I was getting on my Pilot Power rears near their lifes end.

"On the track I perfer Perelli and Dunlop tires for my VFR. The only tires I do not like is the Bridgestone - good quality but they do not inspire and confindence for me - just my two cents.[/QUOTE]"

I have been using the Conti sport attack on my 05 Yamaha R1
and 03 Gsxr 750 for 3 years......I will never buy another tire.
let me tell you I live in upstate NY where we have many twisty Mountain roads......and I use them on my gixxer for track days.
these tires have incredible lean angles and feedback.
In the rain....they are hands down the best iv had...
in my 15 years of ridding...iv gone threw alot of tires.
I put an average of 10k on each of my bikes from march to oct.
The 99 Vfr i just bought has Pilot powers...these and Perelli are the only other tires I will ride on.
When these wear...I will replace them with Conti "road..not sport"attack.....they will last a lil longer than the sport.
I used to use Pilot CT because "there the best".......the sport attack have the exact levels of performance.,.even on a track...however the Conti is better in the rain.
YOU can get Conti's for nearly $50 less a tire...than Pilots.....Helps take the sting out of the $75 dollar a tire mounting fees in my area.

as for the above quote about having more confidence in a Perelli tire?

the Conti Attack is essentially a Perelli.
(but, better than a Diablo in the rain by design)
thats because it was designed by the same Perelli engineer that created the Diablo...and has the same Kevlar construction of other elite tires.
Notice the tire is made in Germany.....same as Perelli.

Bridgestone tires are horrible...even there best....avoid at all cost.

Metzler M-1 are really good and the M-3's are really great I just changed to the M-3's and will do full write up on them once I get a few miles on them.
also cheap ( in price only ) tires w/ great grip you can't beat the Shenko Steath 003's
I ran these as a race tire for many years when they were made by Yokohama and I used them for knee dragging rides on my 6th gen.

Anyone tried the Pirelli Angel ST's yet?
    motorcyclesuperstore.com has them reasonably priced.

Since this thread has been revived I'll throw in another plug (pun intended) for Pilot Road 2's. I was getting about 4K miles from a rear. With my last set of Road 2's I got over 9K miles on the rear tire! Second good thing is the front and rear wore about evenly so I replaced them as a set. I'm VERY happy with them.

Dunlop Roadsmarts. This is going on my 3rd set (replacing my rear). Got about 9500 miles out of the rear. Street section tread just about invisible--no threads, showing. In my opinion, excellent tire.

I realize I might catch some sh!t for this but I just put Shinko 005's on my 6th gen and they have been great. I have put on just about 1k miles in the past few weeks and the tires have performed very well. At $190 installed for a set they are a great value. So far i have used them on one day of very hard riding with some other VFRW guys, in the rain, and some commuting, no issues. I no longer have any chicken strips front or rear.

I ran PPs on my ZX6. On my Falco I tried Road Attacks-- didn't mind them but never fell in love with them. I then tried BT021's and REALLY REALLY liked them. I'm 230 so I think I wear rears faster than some folks, plus I ride 2 up 15-20% of the time.

On my new ride, my Gen 5, there are Storms. I'm anxious to put some miles on them as they come highly recommended.

Love the Avon ST's, very stable and very comfortable and quiet, nary a whiff of sliding, no 'whitelining' and minimal tracking in rain grooves and the like. I'm a lightweight at 155lbs but I've noticed some moderate rear wear at about 2500 miles of spirited riding. Too many 3rd and 4th gear twisties I suspect. PP's next? Maybe.

I'm still liking the Pirelli Diablo set that cyclegear sells for <$200 twice a year. No one can beat that price and it's a good tire; quick turn in, decent wear, front doesn't seem to cup, way better price than anything other than shinko. If I'm talking all around then a set for <$200 that performs about the same as all the others mentioned has to be at the top. I got about 4000 miles out of the last rear pirelli (of course I did ride it flat)

    Roadsmarts

I put 6,000 miles on the Dunlop Roadsmarts, and 4,000 miles of that was a road trip in the summer heat from IN to CO, UT, AZ, NM. Lots of high speed, high heat riding. Still managed to ride the twisties back home for the remainder of the riding season with no issues. Great wear, grip well in wet and dry. I'll buy them again in the spring. I actually liked them a little better than the Michelin Pilot Road 2s (and the Roadsmarts are cheaper).

I just added the pilot road 3's a month ago. They're great tires, though they are a bit expensive =/

Had no complaints with the set of Pilot Road 2s that I had. Also no complaints with the Pirelli Angel STs that I have on at the moment.

After I wear out my current set of Metzelers I will definitely be ordering more Metzelers! These tyres are fantastic! - A great all-weather tyre, with ridiculous longevity. I know one person who got nearly 10,000km out of a set.

I will be looking at the Z-8 Interact, I think it's called.

I actually really liked the Shinko 009s that were on my old 750. The PO only put a couple hundred miles on them when I bought it, and I put another 1k or so before I wrecked on it. They barely showed signs of wear at all and had a really solid feel while cornering, not as lively as some others I've ridden, but extremely consistent and never felt like they were going to throw up any surprises. I'm probably going to get a set of PR2s when the Dunlops on my 5th-gen wear out, heard too many good things about them not to try.
