My front end feels really soft except for when I hit a bump in the road or the little concrete lip at the bottem of my driveway, then it hits really hard like I have a flat tire!!!! Like im riding on my rim or something!!! The weird thing is my tires are all filled up!!! What is that a sign of?

I have a European 84 VF750 Sabre which is similar to the American 82-83 Sabre.

Thanks for any sugggestions you guys reading are much appreciated!!!

If memory serves me you gave the air charged- air adustible fromt forks and the TRAC anti-dive on that bike. Check air charge. should be at 7 psi or something close. Also the TRAC setting. If that fails look at fork seals for leaks. My best guess.

How many miles on the bike? When's the last time the fork oil was changed or the bushings checked? Spirings may need replacement as well.

There are a few guys on SabMag that have rebuilt the Sabre shocks, and there are alternatives if you want to replace it.

Here's a link to a page showing maintenance stuff on a baby Sabre:

On this old magna I used '81 Gold Wing front forks and upper and lower trees. The stearing stem was from the magna and re-welded it into the lover wing tree. They were shorter and stiffer than the Magna forks.

WoW that looks ALOTTT like my bike!!!

No welding alllowed in Germany or else I have to get it X-rayed by the inspectors. Every 2 years we have an inspection here and they are tough. My registration has tire size and anything thats not stock attached to it with additional paperwork. Any changes I make I have to pay for to have the changed in my paperwork. If they pull me over and if they notice I made changes that arent in my paperwork I can lose my license. YOU EVEN HAVE TO GET PERMISSION TO TINT YOUR WINDOWS ON A CAR HERE!!!!! THEY DONT PLAY AROUND HERE AND THAT SUCKS FOR ME CAUSE I LOVE CUSTOMIZING!!!!!

I like the look of the custom airbox. But do you get enough air for the carbs to run right?

I dont know cause I bought her like this. Ill let u know real soon tho. I sent ya a private message about having problems with her running. You didnt get it? After 1/8 throttle she bogs down. I actually have the original airbox back on her cause of the issue but it didnt help. Just pulled out my carbs and opened my vacuum slides and seen that thre shop that did a ultrasonic cleaning recently didnt put the rubber thingies in right so I wasnt getting a seal. Also they played with the boots in the INSIDE THE AIRBOX that direct my fuel into my carbs and they werent sealed right either. I hope I have found my issue!!!

That feeling is totally normal and the result of the damping rod construction of the forks. Pop in a set of emulators and that will go away and you will be amazed at the overall improvement in the forks.

As far as i can tell my seals are fine thats why its confusing me! So the hard hitting when I go over a bump is normal for my TRAC anti-dive forks huh? Emulators? Which ones do I need and how hard are they to install? DO THE FORKS HAVE TO COME COMPLETELY OFF THE BIKE?

Do a search for "fork cartridge emulator" and you should find everything you need to know on the subject. Yes, the forks need to be removed from the motorcycle and completely disassembled for the modifications and installation.
