It's all good. I've been bashing around internet forums, newsgroups and BBS for about 15 years now. Bashing is a part of life and those who get their panties wadded up are fodder for entertainment.

Lots of the "movie colony" dudes rode or had bikes. Brando is also pictured (stills) on what looks like a Matchless twin that is cobbled and what looks (again) like a Moto-Guzzi. The Triumph is a rigid 650 so possibly a TBird. His bike? Not a clue. Could be and be sure if it was he rented it to the producers.

The film Triumph looks to be a 50-51 or maybe a 52. Rigid frame and some had spring hubs. I believe the 54 Triumphs had swing arms.

None of them handled all that well, or stopped worth a damn..

Lots of Brit bikes in LA (Hollywood) at the time. The Port of Los Angeles ect.. Guys like Bud Ekins, Tex Luse ect., were young guys riding competition some on HDs and anything they could afford or get their hands on.

The movies are the movies. Most of the stunts are stunts by stunt guys or racers. Hollywood had years of experience doing car stunts to draw upon.

I think McQueen could have jumped that Triumph over that concertina fence. Maybe not on a Beemer. but he was hot property and again it was the "movies". I always wondered where the Germans nicked that Triumph. Maybe they stole it from some French dude..;)

I'll put the Eastwood flick in my queue..Been a long time since I saw it..

I couldn't believe that this thread is back to life. Since Feb 2011 I've only put 9.5k miles on my 1200vfr but they've been great miles. My Harley riding friends still dish out the trash and I fling it right back. I still like certain Harleys but not enough want to give up on the 1200vfr. I don't understand all the keyboard hatred. When I'm to old to ride the 1200vfr I'll go back to riding HD. Harley's are easy to work on is one thing you'll hear a lot but I prefer riding to put-zing around trying to find the right sized Allen or Torx wrench then heating up the lock tight to remove everything. My 95 flstn before she was sold; 1200vfr before the two brothers and topbox.

You're probably right, when I was leaning to ride my first road bike in '83 a school friends Scottish father reminisced about his Rocker days in the mid '60s where he'd regale interesting stories about his motorcycle with a Triumph motor in a Norton featherbed frame for handling.

The other hottie of that era was the Norvin.. Better handlng and still didn't stop all that well. Vintage class roadracing at least here allows disc brake retrofits. Did some laps on a modded Manx Norton a few back. Some of the percs of being in a vintage club are some rides. Norton "clubs" all over the place. Antiques to John Players. One bud here has a 750 Commando with a blower. Rare like chicken choppers.

The best thing going for vintage class is "Team Obselete." The vintage racers have great fun. There is a special class here in the PNW for the Honda 160s. A bunch of the guys got together and formed a loose organization, sourced beaucoup parts for a pool and have built some nifty little racebikes. They race at Pacific International and Portland International..

WTF happened to Rainbow's vid on the Tango? I missed some steps and then it was gone. I'd ask norlkeboy but he is limited to the Macarena and re-runs of Chaz on Prancing with the Stars.

You did the right thing ...You said you did not want to argue and walked away.

See you could have both had a different conversation about your bikes.
