I promised myself I wouldn't cry, but sometimes letting go can be hard.
This VFR experiment just didn't work out. I couldn't get to a comfortable place on this bike. I raised the bars, lowered the bike (and triple tree), put it back to original height, got softer grips, exercised my abs, did some squats, bought a Keigel machine (?? not sure why ??) but nothing has helped. I told my wife that if I wasn't sure by the end of the riding season, I would get rid of the VFR.
SO... with that I am working on a deal for an '08 Kawasaki Concours 14 with the VFR as a trade. So far the numbers work in my favor and I have always liked the Conc. Insurance is a killer, but that's the price of fun, I guess...
I haven't been the most active member on this site, but I sure enjoyed the stories, pictures, advice, and honestly, a good many of you are some twisted MOFO's .
At this point I sense I should be singing a Carpenters song. "...it's only just begun..."
Gee, did that give away my age??

    Goodbye isn't forever..... Later.

Yeah, they let me stick around...

Besides, I talked about getting a Connie many times on this board, so would be happy to hear your experiences...

    I know how you feel

I bought my 2007 VFR on 12/31/10 after looking for one that I could afford for ~ 2 years. Loved the bike, but had a terrible time finding a way to get comfy on it. The bike had Heli bars on it, so I thought that would suffice - but it wasn't enough. I was not comfy and could not enjoy riding. To make a long story somewhat short - I raised the heli bars up to ~ 1/2" ABOVE the top of the fork. I was nervous doing this as it did not appear to be very safe doing that. Well - 6 months later, and lots of hard riding, long trips, etc.., it hasn't caused any issues and works pretty darn well. My Ninja 650R was still way more comfy, but this bike is sweet - so I'll keep it for awhile. I had 1 ride with 573 miles in a single day (13.5 hours), and I was fine.

Well - good luck on the new ride.

Good luck in your search for the perfect fit.

Ride your own ride. Stick around if you like it here. We're cool.
