Ok- My tires are WAY past the point where instinct of self preservation usually intervenes...

Done my research, but I still want to hear what y'all got going on. This is NOT another "which tire is better..." argument. It's a simple test, with the scientific control being since I posted this in the 6th gen section anyone reading this probably rides the same bike, in a similar style as I do...
    So, here's the scenario:

If you were buying tires today you would choose...

I knew someone would pick metzler. But from what I've found they're more expensive, and less available than the 5 I put in the poll... C'mon Toe- play along!!

I ride the bt-016 .. Tho I'm thinking about the Q2. Hard to switch off since the BT-016 has been terrific.
You just have to know that the sportier the tire the less you should expect for mileage. If you want mileage get something more touring. The above mentioned M-5 and the BT-016s are not long range tires. That said expect over 5k per set of BT-016s. I also like the PP2CTs but they are a different animal. Much more triangular shaped tire and thus twitchy and quick turn in as in, it feels like the bike is falling over until you get used to it. I prefer the BT-016 and now that the Pro is available its an easy choice for me.

Oh, and try to buy from stock that is less than two years old. This goes for any tire. Some low price joints are low because they are selling old rubber. Not terrible just not as good as newer rubber.

Was just reading up on the pro. Seems like it's actually greasier & less stable than the regular -016's are. I've got -016's now, and they've been awesome- BUT: there are more aggressive and more experienced riders here. So before I go blow $300 on another set I figure I'll do well to listen to what people would buy today, not just what they already have...

I'm thinking about the Q2. I change my own tires. The cost to me is only $200 a set give or take $20. I whent back to the BT after the PP2CT. I like what I have read about the Q2 and what a friend of mine told me after riding them at a riding school.

For the street both are more than excellent. Better money spent on suspension.

What I like about the BT-016 is the feedback I get while riding. I don't know if that is what I will get from Q2s.

I chose the PR2's because I like to get my lean on when I can but I also commute 50 miles a day to work, mostly on the slab. They wear great and have all the grip I've ever asked for on the street, so I'm not pushing the envelope. If your looking for a street tire they can't be beat. I should get 8000 miles out of this set.

    Michelin PR2

Not that I've experienced them personally but from everything I've read it seems these would be the way to go. I had BT-016's on my Ninja ZX6R and they were fantastic. Amazing grip and longevity was decent. It's been a while but I'm almost certain I got at least 5,000 to 6,000 miles out of them. I'm looking to get more mileage than that out of tires for my VFR and if they grip well (like people are saying), even better.

I have the PR3's now and personally didn't see any difference between them and the PR2' PR2's get my vote. Does Firestone make MC tires?

When it comes to tires, I prefer the ones made from rubber. Most especially the black ones...

The problem here is that the visitors/posters are asked to choose between supersport tires and sport touring tires. The PR2 and BT-023 are sport touring tires. The rest are sport tires. Not quite apples and oranges abut there is a difference.
