Wow! Glad these turned out in your favor, particularly with the car. Looking at the squirrel video, it looks like he sucks in his tail at the last minute.

I'm glad you manned up and took (most) blame for this. Good Man. My first instinct would be, cars on the side of the road, houses, 25mph (hidden) corner, stores......SLOW my ass down! As you already stated, the car was not at fault. You were speeding, coming around a corner that he could not see, all in an area with a 25mph corner with businesses & houses. Glad you came out ok. Ride on!

it looked like to me..that if she would have just made the turn all would have been good..but that's just my opinion....besides, who stops in the middle of the road because they missed the driveway on a "BLIND " corner.....

anyway, glad you stayed upright. yellow speed limit signs are a suggested speed for the cor....SQUIRREL!!!!.. um.....so yeah.......nice video of the ocean......keep rocking the camera and stuff.....

The second video reminds me of the Great Chipmunk Massacre of 2009. I killed 20+ in under an hour.......not on purpose......some kind of weird suicidal rodent thing that happens in the Sierra's.

I disagree, Brace was not at fault. The driver crossing traffic is always responsible to do so safely, period. Stopping in front of oncoming traffic is not proceeding safely. Brace could have lessened the potential for disaster by slowing into the corner, but the fault is still the other driver's.

So, based on that logic, regardless of the speed and antics of a motorcyclist, no matter if that rider is doing triple the speed limit coming around a blind corner (which was labeled 25MPH for good reason) the driver crossing the road is still at fault to you?

The fact that you mention "stopping in front of oncoming traffic is not proceeding safely" just makes me roll my eyes at how obtuse you are. Have you considered the possibility that the driver was looking for vehicles, attempting to turn, and out of nowhere a motorcyclist comes whizzing out from around the corner and the car comes to a stop in order to allow the motorcyclist an escape route.

I love to ride as much as anybody else, but there is a lot of responsibility that comes with riding on the road. A lot of other people are on the road with which we share. A lot of those people may very well live on our favorite roads. For years they could have had a quiet road, and now there are sportbikes racing up and down it all weekend, and during the week. Each time you attempt to pull out of your driveway you fear that a motorcyclist is coming around the corner doing double or triple the speed limit. Have you any concern for the risks that they face each day? What if my friends and I dragrace down your street in front of your house with kids playing around each day? Would it bother you or your neighbors? I am just saying, "have consideration for others on the road, not just you and yourself, and your personal needs," otherwise, we are all bound to have many more laws and restrictions come our way. You can bicker and argue all you want, but my behavior, and the behavior of the rest of us on our bikes affects all of us. Piss off the wrong person on the road, and get ready for a barrage of laws coming your way.

OK, get off your high horse. Did you read what I wrote? Not what you think I meant, What I wrote. The driver of the vehicle has the responsibility. I also said " Brace could have lessened the potential for disaster by slowing into the corner, " I'm usually the first one to call a squid a squid, but the cycle is not always at fault.

    Oh, never mind.

Not to beat a dead horse, but if look at the video again, it looks like the driver started her turn but stopped because of someone walking in the driveway. IMO, she was prematurely turning into the driveway as the pedestrian was walking in front of the entrance. If you start at :54 sec into the video (slow mo section), you'll see she is already in the opposing lane by the time Brace is rounding the corner. She hesitated due to the pedestrian and once she saw Brace, she completely stopped blocking the whole lane.

Now I'm sure in "real time" this looked and felt totally different but if you played this back again, you might see the same thing I see, the driver wasn't expecting anybody coming from the other direction and assumed that it was safe to stop until the pedestrian was out of the way. Personally I think most drivers are selfish and do not pay attention to others on the road. Ever been behind someone while they're looking for an address or side street and they are not paying attention to traffic behind them? Sometimes they just make a sudden turn into the driveway or side street not even looking to if the way is clear! It's one of my biggest pet-peeves! Circle the block if you have to, and PAY ATTENTION!

    Cheers!

    LOL...

This comment gave me a chuckle to start the day.. thanks.

Glad all worked out well for you dude.

We all make mistakes and its just hard that when drivers make mistakes near us, its life threatening rather than just bummer my car needs to go to the shop. Thats just bikes...

Stay vigilant my 2 wheeled brothers (this comment is not inciting vigilante behaviour) ;)

I knocked off countless squirrels in New Joisey, rabbits and one deer! In south Florida you can ride at night and not have to worry about t-boning bambi  Like dah Krusty One sed, "keep rocking them videos." I was thrown when I first watched yours as I was looking at your black and yellow helmet and saying to myself, "that dont look like a gen three paint job." then I reliezed that it was a helmet cam. LOL I recognize that instrument pod in my sleep.

At least squirrels are smart enough to keep crossing lol Thanks man, I appreciate it :)

    You guys got frigg'n' alligators!

I saw that too, whatever the reason, she probably wasn't thinking of anything coming out of the turn....plus, my speed was to blame too.

HA! Those little dirty tampons wanna see us crash!

I hope we get one for hipsters and Bieber fever fans soon....

Us bikers have alot of time to think on the saddle, I knew it right after I got off the bike to shake it off, I was going too fast for that corner. Its the responsibility we have to remind ourselves we need to carry.

Twenty critters in an hour makes one wonder what TC is serving up at his BBQs even though they taste just like chicken.

    I said I wouldn't but I can't help myself. Kinda like a crack addict.

Brace. Good on you. Every collision can be avoided, usually by actions of two parties if not at least one. You stepped up to the plate and realized your actions had a part in this. And from what I see here, so did the driver of the car to maybe a lesser degree, but none the less, it was there. She did cross a double solid line. "Most" places that is permitted so long is this movement does not interfere with the normal flow of traffic. Now to define that would create yet another discussion all on its own.

The cautionary speed signs are just that. Cautionary. Not regulatory. Black on Orange or Black on Yellow = Caution/ Black on Reflective white = regulatory. But cautionary signs are in place for good reason. I would suggest this one is in place due to the somewhat blind corner which I don't think anyone would say this is not.

Even though we may have the legal right of way, such as you had, we still must yield to a vehicle that is turning in front of us if we come across one in the middle of that maneuver. Much like a pedestrian has the right of way in a cross walk, but the pedestrian must not step from a place of safety if it is not safe.

But what I don't get. Where was all the profanity one might expect. F.A.I.L. in the sound effects category Bud.

I didn't know that Canada even had those cautionary signs. Not much need where the speed limits are so slow some bikers fall over from lack of momentum.
