Out of curiosity, what would be the result of eliminating the tailpipe and muffler completely, and terminating directly after the collector?

It would be really loud and obnoxious and your right foot will get burnt.

I know this because I rode my bike around the block after putting my new tires on and left the muffler off for grins. It actually sounded like crap.

    KC-10 FE out...

there is a guy that made a muffler that ends at the collector.i think it took a lot of work and you lose the centerstand.but in the end you would have a buell exhaust lol.

Was just on the OzVFR Alpine Summer ride, a guy turned up on a Red '03 VTec with just a approx 16 inch crome pipe coming up at a angle from the collector supprisingly it was loud but not too loud, when asked he replied he had a spud like baffle welded in at each end of the short pipe to get the sound to an acceptable level.

The only problem I could see riding behind him was a now very fat looking open cavity under the seat.

sounds like crap and it's a good way to do serious engine damage.

    HEHEHE...

    DAMMIT....

I wish I had seen this thread before I dropped coin on a Two Brothers pipe...:frown:

I had ideas of doing a Buell style exhaust, but gave up when I started discvoring how much of a tear up it is to the centerstand and stuff...

A guy on VFRD had an almost new Titanium TBR standard mount for sale for $200. I settled for that although I still wish I had shorty bottom exit exhaust.

I've wanted that style exhaust before it was cool for the OEM's to do it... Those fokkers stole my idea !!!!!!
