I know there's a across the pond that offers the smoked tail for the 6th gen. Does anyone know of a stateside vendor for that item (mine's an 04) and/or the front blinkers with a smoked option?

    Thanks,

    Sweetp

I have been searching high and low for Smoked and LED tail lights for the 6th gen on this side of the pond to no avail. I am just about ready to pop for the set from either France or Germany I think.

You could try this stuff: VHT SP999 Nite Shades Night Taillight Tinting Coating. I've never used it myself but saw it on one of those car shows. The more coats you put on the darker the lens.

I don't know about the 04 but the 06 has coloured lenses so I would have to buy new lenses anyways. What I really want is the LED lights cause I want to also install a micro flash thingy in it too. Those flashers don't work well on incandescent lights.

I guess more accurately, incandescent lights don't work well with those very quick flashers. At least, no where near as effective as LEDs

Randy, I thought the 06+ had clear turn lenses front and back with a red tinted brake lens and used amber turn signals. My 04 uses amber lenses with clear bulbs. I also thought I remembered seeing that they changed the connectors for the bulbs as well that year. I too am looking to go with the smoked lenses and LED lighs. I would also like to replace the entire undertray with the one from Free Street Design but alas I haven't been able to find it for sale because I think the company went under.

You're right. I realized my moment of senior citizenery today when I rode to work this morning. But yeah, I still want to swap mine out for the LED's.

I also want world peace and all those fuggen little nose pickers to stop banging on my door tonight asking for candies.

I was never able to find a vendor here in the U.S. that sold the smoked lens integral LED tail light assembly and smoked front turn signals for the 6th gen. bikes Sweet. I ended up getting mine from Thurn Motorsport in Germany. They were fairly expensive.
I picked up the fancy turn signal relay too so the LED lights wouldn't flash so fast. As you can see the smoked tinting on the lenses is actually fairly light in color.

Since my '03 didn't originally use LED lights in the front turn signals I simply swapped out the amber bulbs that came with the smoked turn signals for a pair of amber 7443 120 LED high powered wide angle SMT LED tower bulbs.

The only other place I know of that sells the smoked LED tail light assembly and smoked front turn signals for the 6th gen. bikes (5th gen. bikes too for any of you sneaky 5th genners who are covertly spying on our 6th gen. forum, you know who you are ) is a place called 2a4 in France.

Their prices appear to be a whole lot cheaper than Thurn's,wish I woulda found these guy's first :eek:hwell:,dunno about the shipping though.

No problems at all, mine bolted right on my '03.

Got a question for you now HeavyHauler. Did your tail light assembly come with a rubber grommet installed in the top opening?

Mine is missing that grommet. Gonna hafta scour the hardware stores to see if I can find one, don't want any dirt or moisture getting in on those circuit boards.

I'll be getting some stuff soon Stosh. I just put an end to a 3 year unemployment streak (in the traditional sense) and am in the process of moving this week. After I get settled in, I have to prioritize a bunch of stuff I want to buy so that I get it taken care of before companies stop making parts for our bikes. It pretty much comes down to I need to get my hands on the Honda CF parts I want, the other non-Honda CF parts I want, things lings like this, then suspension and Ti bolts.
