Just purchased an HID headlamp kit for my vfr

Wondering if anyone has any tips for installation along with ballast placement recommendations. Thanks. Hope I like them and that they are compatable, not here yet, this week.

Depending on the kit, it may be plug and play, or cut and splice.

As far as where to put the ballasts on the 3rd gen, space is tight. About the only place I can think of up in there is behind the turnsignals. There is a channel next to the support rails on each side. Not easy, but possible.

MAYBE verticlly along the steering head support area, IF the fork tubes don't hit it a full turn.

Good luck, looking forward to the write-up. So far I'm just running Silverstars. Nice, but HID would be better.

So, did you make it? I got HID kit for my 3rd gen today, and been wondering where to position the two ballasts. Share the info please!

    Thanx!

Could always re-move your PAIR valves then you would have room

    HID installation

There is plenty of room inside the headlight housing. I mounted my ballasts so that gravity would pull down on them, holding them in place, above the turn signals. The adhesive supplied with my ballasts was questionable but they have held up for almost a year in that position with no troubles. The real pain is adjusting the headlamps after installation, it took me many (15?) tries to get them right. This is tedious because you must take it apart and reassemble each time you test them. Aside from that, I almost never use my Bright lights, the HIDs are excellent.

Can you take a picture of how the Front of the bike looks with the HID's on?

I'd also greatly appreciate a shot of the light spread with the HID's on too.

I'm looking to do this mod as I miss my HID light output.
