Where does one find Staintunes in the US?

I have been looking for an aftermarket exhaust for my Viffer for a while now, looking for something with a deeper and a little louder exhaust note. To me Staintunes are the only aftermarket exhaust that accomplish that plus the two big things that I want to keep from my old exhaust: they fit the exhaust cutout almost as well as the original system, and they are twin pipe. I looked at Leo Vince systems but they seem really small in that huge well, like they obviously weren't OEM spec size.

Does anyone know where I could find a good Staintune system in the US (specifically Southern CA) and how much it will cost me? No price is too cheap!

    OR

Does anyone know of any other twin-pipe exhaust systems that at least look like they belong on our bike? Or has anyone done any mods to the undertail so all that heat shielding isn't just showing around the edges of the cans?

I HIGHLY recommend modifying the stock exhaust with the method posted on VFRD by JTG before you go dropping $800+ on Staintunes. Can be slightly frustrating (many broken Dremel wheels) but took me only about two hours total (including getting the pipes/fender on and off) and cost about $10 for a dremel cutting kit at home depot. Even if you had to pick up a dremel for $80 bucks it would be more than worth it.

The results are AMAZING, as you'll read from MANY people in that thread, WAY better tone than straight gutted cans, and not quite as loud, either. Best of all, you keep the stock undertail lines.

I guess I wouldn't mind doing a gut of the can, either full gut or the one in the link. The only reason that I've kinda stayed away from thinking about that is because I want a set of pipes to fall back on should I not like the new sound and volume, or if I ever decide to sell the bike. Does anyone want to sell me their stock exhaust?

I'm sure you wouldn't have trouble getting some stock pipes if you wanted, I think someone in the general VFR discussion forum was trying to GIVE away a set earlier this month. Having heard a full gut in person on this bike (have no experience with aftermarket, so can speak for that other than sound clips) I can say it sounds nowhere near as good as JTG's method and is a bit obnoxious also. Open cat on the bike sounds even worse, incidentally, and is obviously even louder. I say try it, I don't think you'll be disappointed, I certainly am not.

Look at Remus exhausts; just put a set on my 2007 RWB VFR800. Perfect fit, chose the black (not CF) finish. True two pipe system; 5.5 lbs. lighter than stock. With inserts same loudness as stock but much nicer tone; w/o the inserts louder but not obnoxios and probably what you are looking for. Bought mine from sport touring.com, available other places. Austrian made, great welds and overall awesome German quality.

Yeah for sure, if anyone knows anyone giving away a set of stock pipes that would be great, otherwise I wouldn't mind dropping a little money on them. Otherwise I will definitely look into the Remus system, just can't afford a new Staintune system right now, and honestly even if I could I don't think that I could justify purchasing it for that much money.

No pictures; go to sporttour.com and look up Remus for the VFR; pictures (I bought flat black) are exactly what you will get. I ordered the Leo Vince in CF and returned them; photos did not represent what I was shipped. $800 for the Remus Revolutions, free ship and no tax.

What if you just don't have the tools/know how to pull this mod off? Would anyone be interested in making some extra $$ by doing this?? I can prolly get the cans off and ship them...
I acually like the idea of keeping the stock look, but adding a few extra hp and "clearing" of the voice of this beast.

    thanks

I could hack it for you (the Dremel method, not the full gut, I don't have any welding equipment/skills) but to be honest there's not that much skill involved, just patience. Plus you could probably buy three Dremels for what it would cost to ship an exhaust both ways. I say pick up a kit at your local home center conglomerate, add a package of heavy duty cutting wheels (you'll want at least 20, they break very easily) and an 1.5" hole saw, and you're good to go. You can probably get an old corded drill for twenty bucks at a yard sale/craigslist if you don't have one already.
