Hi All, recently got a 1990 3rrd Gen 750 FL, sold on looks and sound - 60,000 kms. Hope to get some great rides out before any mech needs attention. Still cant stop ready all the problem/resolutions around. Cant handle the sound, not heard anything like it....hope that's how it is meant to be Best get on the road rather than worrying. Not sure how to add a pic here. Oh well @ a leter stage then. Ciao - Ok now I know
Love the solid paint scheme. Mine is called Granite Blue but it looks black. Nice seat, never saw one with a grab strap on it...is it stock?
Thanks , I am under the impression she is also the Blue Granite paint, wonder how to tell for sure? Does look black. I am not aware they had a paint job. There is a hairline crack unfortunately on the left in front of lower shin and more ragged on low right in front of the brake pedal just past clutch (Both on the angles) due to a light drop both ways from previous owner. Need to find out how to repair those asap before they spread and to match the colour. While I familiarize myself I am tempted to ride with them off, but am concerned they may play an important role ducting the air around certain components. The pic is very shaded. The seat was recovered long before I bought it. The original is the grey and I have to say the black does it for me, gives her a very stealthy appearance. As for the grab strap I actually don't know, I think it is though. I googled some images and did find some with the strap but the Honda spec image didn't have one. I wonder if maybe the ones sent out without the seat cowl had a grab strap. Nice extra bit of detail. Could be it was enforced in some countries. Mine is a japan model. Are there any things to be aware of in general for drops at standstill. Had been dropped stationery at an intersection, the heavy one judging by the end of the bar was to the left. The right fairing had a worse crack and the brake pedal seem slightly more in than usual. Both cracks repaired n touched up, but they are split again so not a lasting good job. Want to tackle it myself if not too difficult, otherwise off to a plastic re-builder. I'll have to take pics and post in relevant section when the time comes. Want to get to know it cos I think I will be on the 3rd gen forever, would put one in every room just to gaze at Feel like a ride right now
There should be a colour code under your seat where the seat latch is. I dont believe it says Granit Blue but I could be wrong. I had my body work painted and repaired about 5 years ago and it has held up well. I have a few stress cracks on my mid fairings where the ducting is, but its par for the course with a 21 year old bike. About ten years ago I bought a middle tail cowl as the old one had a strobe installed in it that cracked, the colour match was perfect. Its been almost a one owner bike but it still has some broken mounting tabs, one side on the tail section under the seat where one of the grab rails goes, near the licence plate, I am missing a bit of plastic. Everything is "hangable" and comes off and on without much fuss (plastic was typical over engineered Honda crap) My Kawasaki GPZ comes apart and you wonder why anyone would use push-pins to hold body work on. My bike was no stranger to the pavement, the body work acutally saved the bike numerous times. I have a bent right clip on that I been riding with for 17 years. The bike was only painted because of a close friend giving me grief about how horrible my bike looked  I am glad I listened to him. I bought Color-Rite paint for my bike and its pretty close. Its more purple than blue though and in the sun you can see the difference, still very very presentable motorcycle for the age and mileage. The man that painted my bike had a paint booth and loved painting motorcycles, Cars and Motorcycles are not created equal when it comes to painting. I wouldnt ride around without the lower cowls installed, you could create some weird stress points on your mid fairings. What else???? YEH I am totally biased to the 3rd Gen bikes, Expensive bikes to build, they cheaped out with the 4th Gen as they kinda went cheap with no ducts in the aluminum frame and did it via the body work. But if one came my way with low mileage, I might be tempted.
